Our grateful thanks to Debbie for her inspiring art work. Thank you also to Damien Uselioates who set a rather large concrete pipe into the ground for Debbie to construct her art work on. Further thanks is owed to Tony Cosma for sourcing the pipe for us and to Nadia Cosma and Annemarie Webb for their inspiration and ideas that we were able to bring to fruition. Well done team! Thank you also to our School Captains, Alex, Harrison, Remi and Elyse who did a brilliant job at leading our special assembly. And of course, thank you to our students, staff and members of our school community who all joined respectfully together in remembering the ANZACs and our nation’s continued commitment to helping others to challenge aggression and help to bring about more peaceful solutions in times of conflict. If only the world’s people could learn from the past and never repeat the atrocities of war. How good would it be if current and future generations could also learn from both the past and present and vow to work together to build harmony across the world, rather than shatter it. Our focus area will be the embankment area in the 1/2 playground area near the tennis courts. We hope to do a bit of planting, build some extra seating and generally make some improvements to this area. Families are most welcome and there’s usually something the kids can help out with too. 2015 Anzac Assembly2015 Anzac Assembly2015 Anzac Assembly2015 Anzac Assembly Last Friday, a special Anzac Day whole school assembly was held to commemorate all those involved in war, with a specif-

ic focus on the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

With the support of Mrs Ramsay and teachers our school captains did a brilliant job leading the assembly. They talked us

through the events that occurred on the 25th April 1915 and reminded us all why it is important to remember the sacrifices

made by the service men and women of Australia and New Zealand. Mrs Webb spoke about the “Gallipoli Oak” tree, the

school leaders and their prep buddies layed wreaths, the ODE was read and the Last Post and Rouse were played, finish-

ing with the National Anthem.

Our “Gallipoli Bollard” was unveiled by its artist, Debbie Qadri and now stands proudly at the entry of our school grounds.

It is a permanent visual reminder that helps us to always remember the many aspects of war and its connection to us now

and into the future. Please take the time to have a close look at this beautiful ceramic and mosaicked artwork when you

next visit the school.

There is an exciting opportunity for Year 3 and 4 students to join the new GK 3/4 Choir. This choir would lead the

national anthem at assemblies as well as performances at assemblies, school and community events. The purpose

and benefits of the choir are to build student confidence through performance, develop collaborative learning by

working together in small groups to learn group parts, skill development through developing pitch, rhythm, part

singing, building music appreciation for different genres of music and most importantly a love for singing. This op-

portunity will require a strong commitment to attending Wednesday morning 8.00am rehearsals and performances.

The first two rehearsals students can attend without commitment to see if they enjoy the choir and it is suited to

them. Please come along to our first rehearsal on Wednesday morning at 8.00am on 6th May. It is going to be awe-

some, see you there!
