“NO SCHOOL TOMORROW” Kia Ora Everyone, Welcome back everyone; it is so wonderful to be back and ready for an exciting new year here at Waiouru School. A big welcome to our new school families! It was great to see so many of you at our “Meet the Teacher Evening” on Tuesday. I hope you all enjoyed it and were able to put some more faces to names. We have a lot on this term, so please check our school calendar and notices regularly so that you don’t miss out. Yesterday, Tawhio and I took Carie (Mrs King) down to Palmerston North for her first reading recovery training day and meeting for school leadership. This is a very exciting opportunity for eight of our children, over the year, to receive this well researched, effective form of reading and writing intervention. Reading Recovery has been in schools for 32 years now and we are privileged to be allocated the funds to provide it. This year we have two vacancies on our school BOT of Trustees, we have begun the process of filling these vacancies by appointing a returning officer for an election, Shona at the CSO. If you are interested please come in and have a chat with either Kerry or I. It is a very rewarding experience, and a great way to be involved with the school.
