FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalizedby the Pesticides Sectional Committee had been approved by the Food and Agricultural DivisionCouncil.

Pirimiphos methyl space spray is used in the control of flying insect pests.

Pirimiphos methyl space spray is generally manufactured to contain 1 percent (mlm) of pirlmi­phos methyl.

In the preparation of this standard, due consideration has been given to the provision of theInsecticides Act, 1968 and the Rules framed thereunder. However, this standard is subject to therestrictions imposed under the Act and Rules, wherever applicable.

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied withthe final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall berounded off in accordance with IS 2 : 1960'Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)'.The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that ofthe specified value in this standard.

3.2 Description

The material shall be transparent and lightcoloured, kerosene base liquid with no extra­neous matter and unpleasant odour whensprayed.

3.3.1 When determined bv the method descri­bed in Annex B of IS 13080 : 1991, the observedpirimiphos methyl content, percent (mlm) ofany of the samples shall not differ from thedeclared nominal value by more than tolerancelimits indicated below:

5 MARKING

The containers shall bear legibly and indeliblythe following information in addition to anyother information as required under theInsecticides Act, 1968 and Rules framed there­under:

a) Nanle of the material;b) Indication of the source of manufacture;c) Date of manufacture and date of expiry;

d) Batch number;e) Net mass of contents;f) Nominal pirimiphos methyl content,

percent ( mjm ); andg) The minimum cautionary notice worded

as in Insecticides Act, 1968 and Rulesframed thereunder.

6 SAMPLING

When a bulk quantity of the material is offeredfor inspection, representative samples of the

material shall be drawn as prescribedin IS 10627 : 1983 and tested within 90 days ofits manufacturing. The criteria for conformityshall be as given in IS 10627: 1983. Howeverwhen the material is offered for inspection after90 days of its manufacturing, sampling shall bedone according to IS 10627 : 1983 and thecriteria for conformity of the material whentested, shall be the limits of tolerances, asapplicable over the declared nominal value,given under 3.3.1 of this standard.

7 TESTS

7.1 Tests shall be carried out by the methodsreferred to in col 4 of 1·able 1.

7.2 Quality 01Reagents

Unless specified otherwise. pure chemicals anddistilled water ( see IS 1070 : 1977) shall beemployed In tests.

NOTE - 'Pure chemicals' shall mean chemicals thatdo not contain impurities which affect the results ofanalysis.
