DOLOR SIT AMET QUICK RESPONSE MANUFACTURING LEAN IN CUSTOMER ORIENTED PRODUCTION On 22 nd of June, NTNU - Erasmus EuroLEAN+ is organizing a workshop on the use of Quick Response Manufacuring (QRM). Professor Vincent Wiegel, founder of QRM Center Europe will talk about QRM and teach you how the QRM principles can be applied the best. Then, Aldert van der Stoel, researcher from the HAN Lean/QRM center, will link QRM to Lean practice. Why QRM? Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) can be seen as a Continuous Improvement Strategy for businesses that deal with a wide variety of products in low volumes. QRM focuses on shortening lead times - using QRM, several companies have reduced their lead times by 80-90%. The strategy was developed by Professor Dr. Rajan Suri, Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Suri arrived at the concept of QRM after research on different lead time reduction projects. Since 2010, there has been a collaboration between the HAN Lean/QRM Professorship Lean and Professor Dr. Rajan Suri, which is based on his QRM-scan design theory. This has resulted in improvement proposals for shortening the processing time. About the workshop During the workshop, a practical application of QRM-scan design is presented by Aldert van der Stoel. He demonstrates the application of QRM through a case presentation where the cycle time could be reduced from 26 to 5.5 days. is Associate Professor at the Department of Production and Quality Engineering at NTNU. He has a PhD in Production Management from NTNU and 15 years expereince as a leader of national and international research projects. His research interests are manufacturing planning and control, enterprise resource planning systems, and manufacturing strategy.

Erlend Alfnes

is one of the leading experts in the field of Lean in the Netherlands and founder of and professor at the Research Group for Lean & World Class Performance. As a professor at HAN Universtiy of Applied Sciences, Vincent Wiegel is involved in Lean education and initiates research into the effectiveness of Lean implementations. Besides his wide range of general knowledge and experience, his specific expertise is in Lean product development, Lean in non-manufacturing environments and use of Lean in the healthcare sector.

Vincent Wiegel

is a part of the research group Lean and World Class Performance of the HAN University of Applied Sciences. He has a MSc degree in Technology Management from the University of Groningen and his interest lies in bringing together theory and practice in different situations. In his current role, he is engaged in research on Lean and QRM theory in practice.

Aldert van der Stoel

SPEAKERS

is working as Senior Project Manager at TNO, specialized in Lean Production, Flexibility (processes, organization and personnel) and Ergonomics (human robot collaboration) in Industry. During the last 10 years she developed and applied participative working methods to improve production lead time, productivity, flexibility and ergonomics of personnel in about 50 industrial companies (mainly SME’s).
