Introduction to Seva Mela 2013
Seva Mela is a two day event being organized at Hyderabad since the year 2010, during the Joy of
Giving Week celebrated during the week from 2nd to 8th of October, to provide an interface
between Non Profit Organisations (NPOs) and Public. The event gives an opportunity for NPOs to
share information about several activities taken up by them to serve the under privileged. It also
gives an opportunity for people to see the good work being done by NPOs, appreciate their work
and support their work by making charitable contributions and also tie up with them for volunteer
activities. The event connects NPOs working for Education, Health, Environment, Old Age,
Disabled and Shelterless, Women and Child Welfare, and Social Work Enablers and Resource
Providers.

Pre Seva Mela preparation:

Seva Mela 2013 in concentrated areas to reach the targeted segment
of audience.
Posters were printed reaching out to the
colleges and corporates.
Press meet was held on 3-Oct-13 at Novatel, Hitech City, Press
releases; interviews were add-on in getting the message across to the larger
crowd. The print and electronic media has also lent their support in covering
the pre and post event.
Posters were also shared among various social media platforms like
facebook, twitter by event organisers and also various participant NPOs.
Volunteers and Donors visiting the Seva Mela were invited to look up the event link
http://www.yousee.in/events/1/seva-mela to view the list of the participating NPOs and commit

NPOs were allotted stalls and standees to display their material and showcase their work to
the visitors coming on both the days. The layout banner displayed at different junctions helped the
visitors to plan their visit in an easy way. Below is the layout of the allotment done for the NGOs
in Seva Mela.
Food stalls were also arranged by the NGOs for visitors to serve wide platter comprising
of traditional, organic and also regular food options.

Seva Mela had been a unique experience for Volunteers, as well as participant NGOs. Here
are a few testimonials received sharing their experience about Seva Mela 2013.
“Seva Mela, a unique stage that gathered about 103 NGOs working for a
cause to make some difference to the lives of deprived, challenged and
unfortunate citizens. Being a part of this Mela provided an opportunity to
interact with various NGOs and also help in volunteering, the soul of joy of
giving. Sharing my personnel experience I would like to put it few simple points.
1. Managing of multiple things: Being volunteer implies that you are the person who wears
multiple caps. Help in managing various in-kind donations, help facilitating NGOs, attending
for the requirements mentioned by the NGOs
2. Knowing about various NGOs: An interactive session with various NGOs has been good
refreshing experience. Well direct interaction with people is far too better than just goggling on
net. I suppose it’s a better way to spend weekends.
3. Event Coordination: Certainly reminded me of my fresher year at college where I had being
event coordinator. A deja-vu feeling of happy days.
In a nutshell, it’s been a bracing experience and I’m humbled to be part of the event. I would like
to thank YouSee for this organizing this event.”
“Valmiki Foundation participated for the first time in SEVA-MELA
2013 organized by YouSee and United way hyderabad. It was
pleasures to meet different NGO’s and understand the social cause for which they are working
for. The second day helped each NGO to interact with each other forming a network for future
reference. It was a learning experience indeed.
We were impressed with the excellent services provided on both the days. Really appreciate if this
event is repeated every year so that it givens an opportunity for different NGO’s to showcase their
work and achievements.”
