Who we are
PRS for Musicis a not-for-profit membership organisation responsible forthe collection and distribution of mechanical & performance income.
It brings together two UK royalty collection societies - the MechanicalCopyright Protection Society (MCPS) and the Performing RightSociety (PRS)
Both of which were set up to collect and pay royalties to members whentheir music is exploited in various ways be it recorded onto any format
and distributed to the public, performed or played in public, broadcast ormade publicly available online.

The Performing Right Society (PRS) was founded in 1914
The Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) was set up in 1924
