INTRODUCTION ISO 45001: 2018, Occupational health and safety management system - Requirements with guidance for use will enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces, prevent job-related injuries and poor health, and continue to improve performance. ISO 45001 is replacing OHSAS 18001 and MS 1722:2011. Current users of OHSAS 18001 and MS 1722:2011 will need to update their systems according to the requirements of the new international standard within a two/three-year transition period that will commence after the standard is published for use. This standard is intended for use by any organization, regardless of its size or the nature of its work, and can be integrated into other health and safety programs such as workers’ wellness and wellbeing. It can assist an organization to fulfil its legal requirements. The new standard has the same high level structure (HLS) with 10 key elements to improve alignment with other management systems standards.     SPEAKERS’ PROFILE

    Ir. Saiful Azhar Mohd Said is a professional Engineer by profession and a truebeliever in Occupational Safety and Health. Currently, he is the Director ofDepartment of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Johor State of Malaysia andhad spent 29 years of his life on improving the level of OSH in the country. He startedhis career as a Factory and Machinery Inspector in 1988 but as time goes by, hebecame the resource person in giving expert opinion improvements of public deliverysystem on things related to OSH. In his capacity of Senior Inspector and also thedirector of DOSH, he was given a task to formulate the OSH Master Plan 2010 -2015 of

    Malaysia and also put his effort together for Malaysia to ratify C187 Promotional Framework on OSH by ILOin 2012.He was appointed to represent Malaysia in the ASEAN OSHNet meeting and conferences from 2004 to2012, a regional grouping 10 ASEAN member countries in OSH reporting to ASEAN Labor Minister Groupingand ASEAN Secretariat. Responsible for developing and promoting special guideline on OSH MS for SME inthe ASEAN member countries.He was entrusted to assist in developing Blueprint on Establishment, Themes and Program of OIC OSHNetwhich is a Transnational Network project under OIC-VET. The Blueprint propose and highlight the approachin formatting the OIC OSHNet, this includes Term of Reference (ToR), modus operandi, roles andresponsibilities of all parties, financial model and also the plan of action for the year 2014 -2018.He was the chairman for Standard Writing Organisation which is appointed by Department of StandardMalaysia to develop standards related to safe systems of work and practices in occupational setting suchas Malaysia Standard on OSH MS 1722 and also the new formulated ISO 45001 standard.

    Bahrudin Bin Mamat has over 25 years of Occupational Safety and Healthexperience with Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Currently asDeputy Director of DOSH Selangor and Newly appointed as Chairman of the TechnicalCommittee for ISO45001 for Standards Malaysia.He has experience in auditing OSHsystem for several industries especially for national council of Occupational safetyand health excellent award. Actively involved in new regulation and standarddevelopment and becomes as speaker for third country programme (TCTP) on OSHand experts in Risk Assessment (HIRARC).

    Nor’afiza Saim is Senior General Manager of Management System CertificationDepartment, SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd. She has Master of Science inChemistry from Memphis State University, Tennessee, USA. She is a founding memberof the OHSAS Project, British Standards Institute (BSI), United Kingdom (1998 untilnow), which Responsible for the development and review of OHSAS 18001 standard.Malaysian representative to provide expert advice in the development, and review ofOHS management system standard (OHSAS 18001 & OHSAS 18002).As an auditor for Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH),

    Malaysia (2004 until now), she is responsible for auditing industries and organizations based on theirimplementation of occupational safety and health (OSH) management systems (OHSAS 18001, ILO OSH MSand MS 1722) and compliance to legal requirements.Nor’afiza Saim was one of Board of Directors of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health,Malaysia (NIOSH) from 2009 to 2011. Advisory Committee for Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF)(2006 until now), as an advisory committee member on environment, safety and health, responsible toprovide expert advice to the federation in improving the level of awareness and implementation ofEnvironmental, Safety and Health management systems among the industries.
