Qubit: un nome che rende omaggio alla teoria quantistica e alla sua unità di misura per una libreria-contenitore caratterizzata da una geometria rigorosa, ma originale e ammaliante. Il designer ha infatti sviluppato una sequenza fluida per questo complemento, il cui ritmo viene trasmesso dalla ripetizione dei singoli moduli. Dunque rigore e modularità, ordine e forte personalità, flessibilità e precisione s’intrecciano in questo inedito contenitore, fruibile in molti spazi domestici – dal living alla zona notte – sia come divisorio, che come elemento da accostare al muro. Ma anche totem free-standing, una vera e propria

“microarchitettura”, come la definisce Vasilev, vivibile da entrambi i lati e in tutte le dimensioni.

Qubit: a name that pays tribute to the quantum theory and its unit of measurement, for a storage-bookcase featuring a rigorous, but original and bewitching geometry. The designer, actually developed a flowing sequence for this furnishing solution, whose rhythm is transmitted by repeating the individual modules. So, rigour and modularity, order and strong personality, flexibility and precision interweave in this brand new storage unit, that can be used in many home spaces – from the living to the night areas – both as a partition and as an element to pull over to the wall. But also as a freestanding “totem”, a real “micro-architecture”, as Vasilev calls it, to be lived on both sides and in all sizes.

Inspirations

Il progetto nasce ispirandosi alla complessità che caratterizza il periodo in cui viviamo. La pluralità dei punti di vista è presente spesso in tanti momenti della nostra quotidianità. Ho provato ad immaginare un contenitore che possa essere utile sia nell’ambito domestico che negli spazi di lavoro. Lo si può usare per dividere gli ambienti oppure accostarlo al muro.La geometria che lo contraddistingue lo rende una micro architettura, il cui disegno è studiato in modo da poter comporre una sequenza senza notare la ripetizione dei singoli moduli.Il nome scelto è un omaggio alla teoria quantistica e la sua unità di misura.

This project is inspired by the complexity of the time we live in. The multiplicity of points of view is often present in many moments of our everyday lives. I tried to imagine a container that could be useful in both the domestic environment and in working spaces. It can be used as a partition, or it can be set against a wall.Its geometrical shape makes it a kind of micro-architecture, whose design has been created to compose a sequence, without noticing the repeating of the single modules.The name is a tribute to the quantum theory and its unit of measure.

VICTOR VASILEV

Victor Vasilev è nato a Plovdiv ( Bulgaria ) nel 1974. All’età di 15 anni si trasferisce in Israele. Studia architettura al Politecnico di Milano e all’Accademia di Belle Arti a Copenaghen. Dopo la laurea, decide di restare a Milano e nel 2004 apre il proprio studio.Le collaborazioni con aziende come Boffi, Living Divani, MDF Italia, Antrax IT, Oluce e Falper, gli hanno permesso di ottenere diversi riconoscimenti internazionali.I suoi progetti nascono dalla continua ricerca sull’essenzialità formale e materica.

Victor Vasilev was born in 1974 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. At the age of 15 his family immigrated to Israel. He studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milan and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. At the end of his studies, he decided to stay in Milan and in 2004 started his own practice.Collaborations with companies like Boffi, Living Divani, MDF Italia, Antrax IT, Oluce e Falper have resulted in his winning several international awards.His design ideas are inspired by the continuous search for formal and material purity.
