    Very people-oriented, friendly andgenerally well-liked

    Most successful when a social climate isimportant, teamwork is social, notproblem-solving, and adequateperformance is accepted.

    Least successful when tasks are complexand require problem solving and whenexcellent performance is expected.

    May not be loyal and may distrust you,may not let you know where you stand,but they are generally liked and

    sympathetic May either be a yes person and

    motivated by public praise or they areonly expressing acceptable ideas

    Get to know a Hidden communicator wellbefore presenting your agenda in order todevelop trust, use referrals and listencarefully for their true opinions

    Closed Communicators

    Low on disclosure and low on feedback

    Usually hard working and are morecomfortable with things than with people

    Most successful when little interaction isneeded, going by the book is valued andsubordinates need little supervision

    Least successful when the job requireshigh interaction, in a high-risk teamproject that requires creativity and otherswant or need supervision

    Communicate carefully dontthreaten or question, avoid makingwaves and dont expect praise or

    guidance Make the chain of command clear to

    closed employees, limit criticismand give them specific instructions

    Dont expect a closed communicatorto openly express themselves

    Blind Communicators Low on feedback and high on disclosure Not afraid to express their expectations or needs;

    they dont ask for feedback because they dont feelthey need it.

    Thrive in situations where they can demonstratetheir expertise, experience and authority

    Neurotic blind communicators mask insecuritiesbehind an authoritarian mask

    Most successful when their expertise is needed, in atime of crisis or change, or when an immediatedecision is needed

    Least successful when there are many personnelproblems, when others can make their owndecisions and when creativity is critical.

    Learn from Blind Communicators theyare very task oriented, appeal to theirsense of self-confidence and get theirsupport

    Can be argumentative and inflexible, areself-assured but may take criticism poorlyand they like to be in charge of projects

    Blind communicators will give other

    people suggestions on how to improvetheir work, they like to be in control anddont like to be kept waiting
