SPONSORSHIP REQUEST 2017

2ND INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON

MADRID, SPAIN • 13 - 14 SEPTEMBER 2017

DOSE OPTIMIZATION STRATEGIES

FOR TARGETED DRUGSFOCUS ON ONCOLYTICS

2nd International Workshop on Dose Optimization Strategies for Targeted Drugs: Focus on Oncolytics 13 - 14 September 2017, Madrid, Spain

With this document, we would like to request your financial support and sponsor the International Workshop on Dose Optimization Strategies for Targeted Drugs - Focus on Oncolytics. Your contribution will make a very much needed conference possible.

The field of targeted drugs is in continuous development. Given the many existing drugs with multiple unanswered pharmacological questions and with the introduction of the new group of targeted agents with their unique pharmacological properties many studies are being performed which will lead to new perspectives. Whereas there is a possibility to submit research in this area to major international conferences, there is usually limited time for in depth discussion and debate among experts on new data and their implications.

Together with a group of international experts we feel there is a need for a state of the art, scientific and independent platform for international exchange between experts in this field. It is therefore that in 2014 we initiated an international abstract-driven workshop on dose optimisation strategies for targeted drugs, with focus on oncolytics. The meeting gathers a cross-disciplinary team of experts and trainees involved in targeted therapies research, in order to present and discuss the latest developments and strategies for the future, in an interactive and science-focused setting.

MEETING OBJECTIVES• To gather professionals in the field of pharmacology of targeted drugs in an interactive

workshop setting;

• To provide a platform for presentation and discussion of the latest pharmacological developments in the field;

• To map all current studies and results;

• To translate new data to treatment guidelines;

• To educate clinicians on pharmacological challenges that need to be addressed with the implement of current and new drugs.

TARGET AUDIENCEThe targeted audience of this workshop will consist of medical oncologists, clinical pharmacologists, pharmacists, industry researchers, government representatives and other experts involved in this field of research. The expected number of participants is aimed to be 100.

2017-EDITIONThe 2nd edition of the International Workshop on Dose Optimization Strategies for Targeted Drugs: Focus on Oncolytics will take place on 13 - 14 September 2017 in Madrid, Spain, right after the ESMO.

BROAD CONFERENCE GOALS

• Facilitate a neutral, scientific, knowledge exchange on dose optimisation of targeted oncolytics

• Promote dissemination and successful translation of new knowledge

• Foster new and lasting cross-disciplinary partnerships and collaborations between researchers, in order to improve the knowledge sharing, with the end goal of improving quality of life within the population of oncology patients

• Attract, showcase, and maintain new, early career, and underrepresented investigators to this multidisciplinary area of research.

• Facilitate a robust dialogue among participants through interactive networking and meal breaks, a networking reception, and distribution of participant list to all registrants during the conference.

• Host an interactive poster session; award young (early career) investigators

• Publish and promote conference proceedings.

• Summarize the current state of the science with regard to dose optimization of targeted oncolytics and assess their value in identifying at-risk patients and monitoring therapeutic modalities.

PROJECTED CONFERENCE OUTCOMESAfter participating in this activity, the participants will demonstrate the ability to:

• Define issues related to the pharmacology of novel targeted drugs;

• Integrate the latest scientific research into daily clinical care to improve the quality of life of oncology patients;

• Understand the concepts of dose-efficacy/toxicity relationships and use this knowledge to guide clinical decision making e.g. dose reduction/elevation or switch from treatment regimen;

• Recognize the future challenges and strategies to personalize targeted therapy.

WORKSHOP FORMAT

FORMATThe format of the workshop includes plenary expert presentations, discussion sessions on areas currently lacking consensus, abstract-driven presentations and a poster-viewing session. Experts in the area are invited to give state-of-the-art lectures and controversial patient cases are be discussed by expert panels. The duration of the workshop will be two full days.

The workshop will be abstract-driven. To ensure the quality of accepted abstracts, all submitted abstracts go through a blind, peer-reviewed process conducted by the members of the Organizing and Scientific Committees. The below table shows the abstract submission statistics for 2015.

2015

Total number of accepted abstracts 25 (1 withdrawn)

Oral presentations 12

Mini - oral presentation 7

Poster presentations 5

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR PARTICIPATION Virology Education seeks to attract the participation of young Investigators with accepted abstracts by waiving registration fees.

Conference Participation Grants— with sufficient funding, we can issue a call for applications and award a number of travel fellowships for young investigators. The committee will select the grantees, via a competitive application process, including submission of letters of recommendation and a poster abstract.

Poster Session — Participating scientists are invited to submit poster abstracts for presentation at a dedicated Poster Session, allowing poster presenters and attendees to exchange knowledge, interact, and establish new collaborations. Posters are set-up in highly visible areas with easy accessibility during registration, session breaks, and after closing on all days of the conference. This is the ideal time for researchers to present their posters to fellow scientists, expert faculty, and many others on multiple occasions. The compiled poster abstracts will be archived and made available to the global scientific community.

Short Oral Presentations — a number of investigators will be selected from the pool of submitted poster abstracts for podium “Key Topic” talks. Presenters will be selected from submitted abstracts by the scientific organizing committee in a competitive process open to all investigators in the field, with preference given to early career investigators.
