Located in the heart of Canada, the province of Saskatchewan is known for its agriculture industry, natural resources, employment opportunities, friendly people, and ever-changing skies.

Saskatchewan is one of the best places in the world to live, work, and study. It is a welcoming environment where you can experience authentic Canadian life and culture in peaceful and secure communities.

Saskatchewan has a vibrant arts and culture scene, pristine provincial parks, and plenty of sports and recreation opportunities.

The weather is a popular topic of conversation. Saskatchewan experiences four distinct seasons (winter, spring, summer, and autumn) with frequent temperature fluctuations. Saskatchewan averages the most sunshine of any Canadian province, so it’s usually a nice day − no matter the temperature.

Approximately 85,000 people call the Parkland region home. The largest city in the region is Yorkton, where most Parkland College students attend classes, either at the College’s Main Campus or at the new Trades and Technology Centre. There are five other Parkland College locations in smaller nearby communities.

Applying for permanent residencyThe Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) offers you a way to immigrate to Canada. Through the SINP, non-Canadians can complete residency applications if they want to make Saskatchewan their home. The province nominates successful applicants to the federal government, so they can gain permanent residency in Canada. The SINP is just one of the steps toward becoming a permanent resident in Saskatchewan. All applicants must also apply for residency through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Graduates from Parkland College are eligible to apply under the Saskatchewan Experience Category of SINP after completing a minimum of eight months of study, 960 hours of employment worked (hours worked while studies are included), and receiving a job offer after you complete your studies that is related to your education.

Seeking employmentFull-time international students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during studies, and full-time work during study breaks. Upon successful completion of studies, you will be eligible to apply for a post-grad work permit. Many of our students then pursue nomination for permanent residency (see above).

Saskatchewan is rich in oil, gas, potash, and uranium, and its economy includes significant forestry, manufactur-ing and agriculture sectors. These resources and goods are exported to markets around the world. With continued economic and population growth, there are enormous opportunities for you directly within these industries, or an abundance of opportunities in support sectors such as health, business, hospitality and tourism, and retail.

Making more time for youResidents of Yorkton enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in a peaceful and secure community of less than 20,000 people. Don’t waste your time in traffic. Don’t worry about personal safety. Enjoy your valuable time in a relaxed environ-ment. The staff of Parkland College and citizens of Yorkton and area will get to know you by your first name.
