andare centeredaroundsuperioror supernaturalpower that isbeyondhumansphereofphysicalcomprehensionandcannotbeseenphysicallybutispurelyexperientialneverthelessmanifestinginourselvesorinothers.Beliefsaregenerallystronglyentrenchedoremotionalandin�luenceourbehaviour andevenourthoughts.Beliefsalsoformthebasisforthevaluesysteminthesociety.

Despitethedifferences,itisbeyonddoubtthattheconceptofreligioncontributestosocialintegrationinacommunity.Religiousthoughtsandbeliefshavealsocreatedasetofritualsandpracticeslikejyotisha,vastu,etal,inthesocietywhicharebeingpracticedovertheages.

Since times immemorial, we have seen the argument that Knowledge must be based onempiricalevidence,evidencethat isobservable–factsandnotonmerebeliefsandrituals.BesidesIndianthinkers,evenwesternthinkershaveopinedthatreligionisaWesternconcept;theIndianconcepthadbeenbeyondbeliefsandisneitherreligionnorany‘ism’-itisVedicDharmaorSanatanaDharma,theeternallawoftheuniverse,whichcannotbeformulatedin
