Introduction

Galileo 360 Fares – International Public Fares Issued: 2/5/2004 Page: 3

Proprietary and Confidential Information This document and the subject matter hereof is confidential and proprietary information for Galileo International. This document is

to be held in confidence by the recipient and not to be disclosed to any other third party.

1. Introduction Galileo 360° Fares introduces state-of-the-art capabilities for pricing airfares.

The Galileo 360° Fares system is one of the most competitive products in the travel industry, encompassing more features of the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCo) Automated Rule, Routing, and Footnote products than systems used by many of the other global distribution systems (GDS).

Galileo 360° Fares represents the migration of the North American Fare Quote system and International Fare Quote system to a fully automated product. Migration of all customers to the Galileo 360° Fares North American Fare quote system was completed in July 2002, and the migration of all customers to the Galileo 360° Fares International Private Fare quote completed in August 2003.

Within this guide, we are pleased to advise you of enhancements to be implemented with the delivery of International Public Fares Phase 1.

1.1 Benefits

Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares offers the following benefits:

• Automate rules for public fare filings using ATPCo Automated Rules resulting in timeliness and accuracy of fare related data.

• Faster time to market for new and adjusted fare and fare-related conditions. • Migrate the faring processes to a server-based environment, which is more flexible and

timely to update, both with data and software. • Accommodate the higher intensity of internet-related faring efforts. • Relatively seamless implementation to the end-user community, including the use of

existing APOLLO® formats. • Rapid development time for new enhancements and industry mandates. • Virtual elimination of discrepancies caused by manual input of rules.

1.2 Implementation Plan

Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares is planned in three phases:

Phase 1 of the International Public Fare Quote system will be released simultaneously to all users. A phased roll out is not planned. The details of this phase are contained herein.

Phase 2 introduces fare display and quote through Galileo 360° Fares for itineraries that are wholly within one country, outside of North America. It also represents the initial phase of automating the SITA data supply.

Phase 3 completes the implementation of the Galileo 360° Fares system, with the full automation of the SITA data supply and the full use of the ATPCo automated rules product for all fare display, quote and fare shopping requests.

1.3 Release Schedule for Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares

The International Public Fare quote system of Galileo 360° Fares will be released in three separate phases.

Phase 1 No earlier than February 7, 2004

Phase 2 July 2004 Phase 3 October 2004

2.1.2 New /Q Surcharge Modifier for Fare Display

2.1.2.1 nternal Reference Number: 1.3.1

2.1.2.2 Impact Fare Products in the following areas will be affected as a result of the International Public Fares enhancements.

Products Impacted North America Intl Privates Intl Publics Fare Quote Fare Display X X X Best Buy Best Buy Quote Fare Quote Planner Fare and Schedule Display Low Fare Shop Tool Calendar Shop X Shopping Services Agency Private Fares v3 X X

2.1.2.3 Background Airlines and Governments are able to impose surcharges on air travel. These can take the form of airline filed fuel surcharges, or Government imposed surcharges, for example, in Hong Kong. Due to the nature of these surcharge filings, it is difficult to assess those fees that should be included in a fare display request. The Galileo 360˚Fares™ International Public fares project (Phase 1) includes a method of estimating surcharges for inclusion in a fare display.

2.1.2.4 Enhancement Description This enhancement implements the Q modifier (/Q) with fare display on Apollo. The Q modifier is combinable with other fare display modifiers, including the base fare (/B) modifier with a North American fare display to display the fares including surcharges, but excluding taxes, and the /T ,modifier to include taxes and surcharges.

Surcharge Calculation

The use of the Q modifier with a fare display request calculates an approximation of applicable surcharges and adds those amounts to the fares in the display response. The following types of surcharges will not be included in the calculation:

• Conditional surcharges (IF): These are charges that MAY apply depending on satisfying a condition. For example, charge USD20.00 if flying on flight 123.

• Multiple charges (OR): These are charges that may apply as an alternate to the main surcharge. For example, charge USD20.00 is travelling between 0600 and 0900, OR USD30.00 if travelling between 1600 and 1900. In this case, only the USD20.00 will be applied.

• Surcharges that apply according to a geographic location: These are charges that may apply to certain points in an itinerary. Since with a fare display request there is no booked itinerary to validate, there is no way to accurately apply these charges.

Fare Display Messages

Changes to the fare display messages are required to advise that surcharges have been included in the response. Messages will be left justified and will vary depending on:

• The fare display market, for example, North American versus non North American. • The combination of modifiers used.

Examples:

Apollo - US/CA Domestic Local Display

Fuel Surcharge USD2.50 (2.33 + 0.17) per direction

OW Fare USD87.00 + USD2.50 = 89.50

RT Fare USD117.00 + USD5.00 = USD122.00

2.1.4 Validated Fare Display for International City Pairs

2.1.4.1 Internal Reference Number: 1.3.2

2.1.4.2 Impact Fare Products in the following areas will be affected as a result of the International Public Fares enhancements.

Products Impacted North America Intl Privates Intl Publics Fare Quote Fare Display X Best Buy Best Buy Quote Fare Quote Planner Fare and Schedule Display Low Fare Shop Tool Calendar Shop Shopping Services Misc.

2.1.4.3 Background The Validated Fare/Tariff Modifier enhancement for Fare Display is part of the Galileo 360° Fares project. The Validated Fare/Tariff Modifier is currently being processed for all North American Domestic fare displays. This enhancement will now be expanded to include all international Private and Net Fare displays.

2.1.4.4 Enhancement Description Fare Display inputs are based on validated and non-validated requests. Validated requests are the more restrictive of the two and require the validate modifier ‘V’. When the validate modifier and travel date(s) are included, Galileo 360° Fares will process specific rule restrictions and eliminate those fares that do not meet the validation criteria.

For Phase 1, international fare displays will only permit validated fare/tariff displays that contain the Private or Net Fares modifier. In order to validate private/net fare data, the input must contain both the validate modifier ‘V’ and the Private (:P) or Net Fare modifier (:C). The output will be validated Private/Net Fares. Public fares will not be included in the display.

For example, $DNYCLAXV20JUN‡UA:P on Apollo will process the rule validation categories based on the outbound date of 20Jun for private fares only. Inputting two travel dates allows the user to specify both the outbound and inbound travel dates.

Following are the three validation options that are provided in order to eliminate certain fares from the Validated Fare Display. The validation option can be included either before or after the city pair. For example, the user can enter $DV15DECMIALON‡CO:C or $DMIALONV15DEC‡CO:C for the Apollo system.

• 2. Day/Time (Day of week restrictions only, time of day not validated) • 3. Seasonality • 5. Adv Res/Ticketing • 6. Minimum Stay • 7. Maximum Stay • 11. Blackout • 14. Travel Restrictions • 15. Sales Restrictions

In addition to the validated fares, the message SEASONALITY/PROHIBITED TRAVEL DATES/DAY-OF-WEEK VALIDATED is displayed indicating that the rule categories have been validated and that the result is a ‘validated fare display’.

Other private fare modifiers may be used in combination with the :P/:C modifiers, except for –PRIVATE, which is not permitted. For example, PRI-ACC may be included in the input string.

2.2.1.3 Background Fare break modifiers are used in pricing to override system selected fare breakpoints when alternate fare break points are desired. Phase 1 implements new error messages when a fare break modifier is used on an invalid segment or an invalid combination of modifiers is used.

2.2.1.4 Enhancement Description The current break modifiers are MB (must break), OB (only break) and NB (no break). These modifiers are used by pricing to override the system selected fare breakpoints when alternate fare break points are desired. In Apollo, the departure airport of a flight segment is considered the fare breakpoint airport.

Below are examples of error messages when the break modifiers are used on an invalid segment or there is an invalid combination of modifiers used.

Example 1 – Fare Break at Origin Point – Apollo Only

Since the departure airport in Apollo is considered the fare breakpoint airport, requesting a break modifier at segment one would be invalid. Itinerary example below:

Products Impacted North America Intl Privates Intl Publics Fare Quote X X X Fare Display Best Buy Best Buy Quote Fare Quote Planner X X X Fare and Schedule Display Low Fare Shop Tool Calendar Shop Shopping Services Misc.

2.2.3.3 Background The Fare Identification Code (FIC) modifier is an override which enables the user to instruct by fare component a specific fare basis (fare class) code to use in the pricing response. When used in a pricing entry, the FIC modifier overrides most rule restrictions as necessary and returns the lowest fare at the fare basis code entered. A user may specify a fare basis code for an entire itinerary or portion of an itinerary. The response is the lowest fare at the fare basis code specified regardless of rules, and includes a message informing the user which rules were overridden.

The Phase 1 implementation includes the following enhancements to the FIC product:

• FIC’d fares which pass rules validation will retain a guaranteed status • An alert will be output to advise what rules failed in cases where FIC is not allowed to

override and a pricing failure results

2.2.3.4 Enhancement Description

Guarantee FIC No Failure

Currently, when the FIC modifier is used to price an itinerary and there are no rules violations, the fare is not guaranteed.

With this enhancement, when the FIC modifier is used to price an itinerary and there are no rules violations, the fare will be guaranteed.

Apollo – Public Fares FIC

Apollo® does not store a Fare Status Indicator in the ATFQ.

On Apollo®, when FIC is used and there are no rules violations, there is no indicator in the pricing response output that the quote is or is not guaranteed. The FCI code on the ticket, however is ‘6’ or ‘9’ – fare not guaranteed, with current processing.

With this enhancement, when FIC is used and all rules pass, the FCI code on the ticket will be ‘0’ or ‘3’, which indicates that the fare is guaranteed.

Apollo - Agency Private Fares™ FIC

On Apollo, the FCI code on the ticket is ‘6’ or ‘9’ – fare is not guaranteed. When FIC is used and there are no rules violations, the FCI code will continue to reflect a non-guaranteed status. There is no change to fare guarantee status of Agency Private Fares™ with this enhancement.

Apollo - Airline Private Fares™ FIC

Airline Private Fares™ are guaranteed when autopriced. With this enhancement, when FIC is used and there are no rules violations, the fare will be guaranteed as well. The FCI code on the ticket will be ‘4’ – fare is guaranteed.

Identify FIC Failure

There are some rule categories that FIC does not override. Currently, when FIC encounters a rule that cannot be overridden to produce a fare quote, the system outputs NO VALID FARE FOR INPUT CRITERIA. With this enhancement, an alert will be output for each failure indicating what rule failed.

The following rules are not overridden by use of FIC, and fares are not guaranteed:

• Category 8 (Stopovers) - North America only • Routes - North America only • Category 14 dates (Travel Restrictions) • Category 15 dates (Sales Restrictions) • Category 15/35 security (Sales Restrictions/Negotiated Fares) - Private Fares (agencies

only) • Category 1/Record 8 account code (ELIGIBILITY) - Private Fares • Mileage surcharge over 25% - International only • No TPM/MPM – International only • Fare effective/discontinue dates • Directionality

2.3 Fare Display & Fare Quote

2.3.1 Private Fare Enhancements

2.3.1.1 Internal Reference 3.1.1

2.3.1.2 Impact Fare Products in the following areas will be affected as a result of the International Public Fares enhancements.

Products Impacted North America Intl Privates Intl Publics Fare Quote X X Fare Display X X Best Buy X X Best Buy Quote X X Fare Quote Planner Fare and Schedule Display Low Fare Shop Tool X X Calendar Shop X Shopping Services X Misc.

2.3.1.3 Background The Private Fare Redistribution enhancement for Fare Display and Fare Quote is part of the Galileo 360 Fares International Public Fares project. Carriers have the ability to distribute private fare data through ATPCo. One feature of private fare validation is Redistribution. With the implementation of Phase 1, the Redistribution process will be improved. The need for additional key strokes by the requesting agent will be eliminated.

2.3.1.4 Enhancement Description Private fare requests in redistribution mode select fares based on the security validation of the requestor. This includes all fares with generic type security that apply to the location of the requestor such as private fares that are assigned security to their GDS, their geographic location, all travel agencies (generic), all locations except travel agencies (generic), etc. Additionally, all private fares secured to the Provider Pseudo City Code and IATA number are selected. With this enhancement, fare requests in redistribution mode will select fares secured to both the Requestor and Provider Pseudo City Code and IATA number.

Definitions:

PCC: Pseudo City Code

Host PCC: The distribution PCC associated with the Requestor PCC

Requestor PCC: The Agency making the fare request

Provider PCC: Used in selecting private fares. This may be the Host PCC or a PCC input by the user with the fare display or quote input, where the requestor and provider PCC have a Selective Access agreement

Redistribution Mode: Requestor PCC is different than the Provider PCC

Fare Display

Currently up to three PCCs may be included in a Fare Display request, which will remain the same. This enhancement changes how these PCCs are populated. The PCCs will now be populated with the Requestor PCC and either the Provider PCCs input by the requesting agent or will default to the Host PCC and the Requestor PCC.

Fares selection is based on the PCCs in the input. If three PCCs are included in the fare display input, then only fares for those PCCs will be included in fare selection. This applies to all fare display functions that incorporate private fares.

Fare Quote

A Fare Quote request allows for one Provider PCC per segment to be input by the agent. In this case, the fares for the Provider PCC will be selected. If the Provider PCC is different than the Requestor PCC, the Requestor PCC fares will also be selected. This applies to all pricing functions that can be used with private fares.

Fare Display Examples - Redistribution Mode

A requestor is considered to be in Redistribution Mode when their Requestor PCC is different than the Provider PCC. There are two different instances which cause the Requestor PCC to be different than the Provider PCC.

The first instance occurs when the Provider PCC is input as a modifier in the fare display entry (see Examples 1, 2 and 3).

The second instance occurs when the Provider PCC is taken from the Host PCC location (see Example 4).

When a PCC is included in the input string, the output will display fares for the input PCC(s) in addition to the Requestor PCC. For example, if PCC XYZ and EFG were input and both had the same private fare (same fare basis, same/different fare amount), then the display will reflect both fares with the PCC on the line immediately following the fare. If the Requestor also has the exact same fare, then three fares will be displayed. The Requestor PCC however, is not output under the fare line. When the fares are the same, the order of the fare output for each PCC is random.

The line identifying the ‘type of fares’ in the display will display the input PCC. If no PCC is input and if the Host PCC is different then the Requestor PCC, then the Host PCC will be displayed.

In the example below, the input PCC equals XYZ and EFG. The ‘type of fare’ line reflects the input of PCC XYZ and EFG. Fare line 1 applies to PCC XYZ, Fare Line 2 applies to PCC EFG and Fare Line 3 applies to the Requestor PCC ABC.

Fare Display Examples - Not Redistribution Mode

There are two different instances where a Requestor PCC will not be in Redistribution Mode.

The first instance occurs when the Requestor PCC’s Host PCC is the same as the Requestor PCC (or no Host PCC exists) AND the Requestor has not input a Provider PCC modifier in its entry (see Example 1 and 2).

The second instance occurs when the Requestor PCC inputs its own PCC as a Provider in its fares request. This type of request is made when the Requestor wants to display its own fares in lieu of the fares of its Host PCC (see Example 3).

A fare quote request allows for one Provider PCC per segment to be input by the agent. The fares for the Provider PCC will be selected. If the Provider PCC is different than the Requestor PCC, then the Requestor PCC’s fares will also be selected. This applies to all pricing functions that can be used with private fares.

2.3.2 Process *IP *IF Pricing Modifiers with International Fares

2.3.2.1 Internal Reference Number: 3.9.1

2.3.2.2 Impact Fare Products in the following areas will be affected as a result of the International Public Fares enhancements.

Products Impacted North America Intl Privates Intl Publics Fare Quote X Fare Display X Best Buy X Best Buy Quote Fare Quote Planner Fare and Schedule Display Low Fare Shop Tool Calendar Shop X Shopping Services Misc.

2.3.2.3 Background The *IP and *IF are pricing modifiers used with both fare display and fare quote. The *IFnnn is used to increase a fare by a specified amount. The *IPnnn is used to increase a fare by a percentage. These modifiers have already been implemented with Galileo 360° Fares for North American fares, and are processed for both fare display and fare quote.

When these modifiers are used today in legacy IFQ, they are allowed but not processed. With this implementation, it is required the agent input either :P or :C in the fare display or fare quote request to be processed.

2.3.2.4 Enhancement Description With Phase 1 of the Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares Project, pricing modifiers *IP and *IF will be processed for all international private fares for fare display and fare quote. This will include Airline Private Fares, and Agency Private Fares for both Apollo and Galileo. The input must include :P or :C for these modifiers to be processed. The maximum percentage allowed with the *IP modifiers is 250%. The *IF modifier allows up to 7 numeric characters.

Note – International agency PrivateFares (also known as PF1) will be excluded with this format. These will be implemented with Phase 3.

The Galileo 360° Fares rules text is a display of this rules data as received in the automated rules product. This data will continue to be retrieved and displayed as it is today. This advisory details planned enhancements in the inputs to retrieve the rules text information.

2.4.1.4 Enhancement Description The Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares project, phase 1, implements a new input to display text by category abbreviation. All text data that is currently displayed using the category ‘number’ will be displayed when the corresponding ‘abbreviation’ is used.

In addition, this implementation sees the introduction of three other enhancements:

• Two new category names, DISC and DATE. These are the combination of several applicable rule paragraphs, and

• The alpha character ‘P’ that currently prefaces a rules paragraph request in IFQ Apollo, becomes optional.

• Industry standard (ATPCo) passenger types will be displayed in the rules text menu as applicable.

Direct Rule Display

The DATE and DISC category names will be introduduced for the North American Galileo 360° Fares direct rule display.

Agency Private Fares v3.0)

2.4.2.3 Background Previously, booking class data that was received from ATPCO was displayed in a booking code display without being filtered. Due to the manner in which airlines file this data, the requests retrieved huge amounts of data, much of which was not directly associated with the selected fare. This made it difficult at times to find booking code data in the display relevant to the selected fare. In addition, since any data that exceeded the maximum system response length was truncated, this left the possibility of data being omitted.

The booking code display entries are as follows:

Booking codes for owning carrier (prime and alternate booking codes) and secondary carriers:

Apollo:

$LBn

Booking codes for secondary carrier:

Apollo:

$LBn/cx

Note:

n = fare line number in fare display

cx = carrier code

2.4.2.4 Enhancement Description For Phase 1 of Galileo 360° Fares International Public Fares, only booking code text that is related to the selected fare will be generated from the ATPCO Automated Rules Product. This enhancement ensures that only the booking code text that is applicable to the fare is displayed, so limiting the amount of data output to the user and providing improved text display.

In the above example, the user requests a private fare display between London and Seoul on BA. The user then requests a booking code text display for the fare in line 1. The display outputs the fare class, fare class explanation and prime booking code filed by BA. The applicable booking code exception information also filed by BA is displayed below this prime booking code information. 2.4.3.3 Background The Route Display enhancements are part of the Galileo 360° Fares project and are included in order to enhance the display and provide accurate route information.

2.4.3.4 Enhancement Description The display of routing data requires an initial fare display request and a follow-on entry specifying the line number of the fare for which the routing display is desired. This enhancement to the routing display removes the fare rule related information from the response.. This enhancement applies to the Apollo system for entries following an international fare display.

Note: The route display following a fare quote does not contain any rules text information.

Examples shown on the following pages are for illustrative purposes only. The routing string output has been shortened, not all strings are shown and blank lines have been removed in the examples.

2.5.1.3 Background The implementation of the Galileo 360° Fares for North American and International Private Fares saw the introduction of industry standard (ATPCo) passenger types, known as PTC (passenger type code). Once the Galileo 360° Fares implementation is complete, support for the Apollo PICs (Passenger Identification Codes) will cease, replaced by industry standard PTC codes.

2.5.1.4 Enhancement Description To assist users with industry standard PTC, this enhancement implements a new display for Apollo that outputs a list of valid passenger type codes (PTCs), and their associated description. The implementation includes additional formats for searching for specific PTCs or their description.

Please note:

• For Phase 1, the PTCs output in this display are only valid for use with North America and International Private Fares.

• All input formats apply to Apollo users. • The PTC descriptions that are output are as defined by ATPCo. Not all PTCs have an

associated description.

2.5.2.3 Background The implementation of the Galileo 360° Fares for North American and International Private Fares saw the introduction of industry standard (ATPCo) passenger types, known as PTC (passenger type code). Once the Galileo 360° Fares implementation is complete, support for the Apollo Passenger Identification Codes (PIC codes) will cease, industry standard PTC codes replacing these formats.

2.5.2.4 Enhancement Description In the ATPCo automated rules product, any passenger type can have an age restriction. For example, Senior, Child, Infant, Youth and Student passenger types frequently have age restrictions. This enhancement enables the addition of a one or two numeric age with any ATPCo PTC, when used for North American and International Private fares.

If an age restriction applies to a PTC, the rules text for the fare contains that information.

Note: Inputting a age with the PTC will override any default ages that are programmatically added during the fare quote process.
