ABOUT OBJEKT©INTERNATIONAL

OBJEKT©International is the authoritative and bespoke title for the upscale urban modernist with a passion for interiors, art & antiques, modern design and outstanding architecture. The magazine was first published in Dutch in 1991. The English edition was released in 1999, Russia followed in 2009 and in 2012 China and South Africa joined the team, each publishing their own edition.

In 2015 the totally new special edition for Asia (11 countries) was launched in Beijing with great success. Last year OBJEKT©USA | CANADA came to the market too.

The magazine continues to surprise with its global adventurism in a world of creativity, never compromising on the exceptional quality of the publication.

In its pages a unique fusion of classic and modern styles is complemented by the inimitable images from the internationally renowned photographer cum art director Hans Fonk. Additional imagery is supplied by other well known international photographers contracted through OBJEKT©International. Together with the OBJEKT©International team they are the driving force of the magazine.

Our readers are architects, designers, gallery owners, collectors, stylists, antiquarians, modern art experts, furniture lovers; in short, everyone who’s interested in interior design, art and architecture.

The architecture of the house quietly compliments the hills

overlooking LA’s Valley. Architect Jim Schmidt and his team

gave order and a sense of luxury to the living spaces which

now have a sense of serenity. Transparency was the key-word

in the design to take advantage of the sweeping views

HIGH ABOVE THE COLORADO RIVER

MAYAN AND ART DECO FUSION

The house sits high above a bend in the Colorado

River, just outside Austin, Texas. Your first impression

is that the Mayans had been here, leaving behind a fine

example of their architectural skills. On further

inspection, you discover that architect Paul Lamb was

indeed inspired by that ancient Mexican civilisation,

whose culture fascinates the client. Inside the house,

Art Deco prevails – of which lady of the house is a fan.

As the building process progressed, interior designer

Fern Santini succeeded – working closely with the

architect and the house owners –in fusing together

those two divergent cultures into a logical totality.

The unusual style of construction is arresting: huge

pieces of stone have been integrated seamlessly in

cantilevered walls. David Escobedo is responsible for

construction, demonstrating, in the building carcass as

well as the finish, the skills of a true master craftsman.

Above: the entrance of the Setai Hotel owned by Adrian

Zecha’s GHM group at Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. It is housed

in an Art Deco landmark, once the Dempsy-Vanderbilt Hotel

dating from the 1930s and completely renovated for its new

purpose. The Zen-inspired interior design is by Jean-Michel

Gathy and Jaya Pratomo Ibrahim. In the background, the tall

Setai apartment block containing suites and private condos.

Below: a private dining room. The lounge bar can be glimpsed

through the wooden shutters.

Right: the Champagne, Caviar and Crustacean Bar, with the

immense reflecting pool beyond.

A typical Art Deco building with a 40-storey transparent

glass apartment block behind. This is the Setai Hotel

complex in Miami Beach – a Zen oasis bathed in Asian

luxury. It is a remarkable project initiated by the equally

remarkable hotelier Adrian Zecha, the man behind

the Aman resorts and GHM hotels.

The rock star-designer Lenny Kravtiz has added to the

excitement by building a complete recording studio

in his penthouse here.

Every year the La Cienega Design Quarter on the

boulevard in West Hollywood with the same name

celebrates its LEGENDS design extravaganza.

Unlike many other design shows this is not an

event featuring design brands, but the

interior designers themselves. The theme for

LEGENDS 2016 was One of a Kind.

The Ferrari 248F1-2006 at the Maranello Museum. The car marked the endof the Michael Schumacher time at Ferrari. It proved to be another leapforward for the single-seaters conceived and developed by Rony Byrne. Thiscar gave Ferrari 9 race wins and 7 pole positions, and second place finishesin both the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships in 2006.Right: Enzo Ferrari on a flag of the Ferrari Museum in Modena, the Italiancity where he was born in 1989. He raced for Alfa Romeo until 1932. He laterfounded his own company and managed to manufacture his two first carsfor the 1940 Mille Miglia, driven by Alberto Ascari and Lotario Rangoni. Following Allied bombing of the factory during WO II, Ferrari relocated fromModena to Maranello. Both cities now have a Ferrari Museum.
