Course DescriptionEconomyin the very long run: Chapters 7, 8 use of

growth models to understand the determinants oflong term growth, policies to promote growth ...Wewill understand better why some countries are richand others are poor. What type of policy canstimulate economic growth in the short and the longterm.

-Economy in the short run: Study of the IS-LM modelin Chapters 10, 11. We will use this model to studythe short run effects of fiscal and monetary policy inthe economy.

· Midterm 1 : Approx. 40 minutes beginning of class. No additionaltime for late students. Weight 20%

· Midterm 2 : Not cumulative. Approx. 40 minutes beginning of class.No additional time for late students. Weight 20%

· Graded Homework: Weight 10%

· Final Exam : Cumulative with more emphasize on the last chapters.Approx.2 - 3 hours. No additional time for late students. Weight 50%

· Grades willbe curved taking into consideration the overall classperformance and the economics department's standards.

· Copies are generally corrected and returned one week after the examin class. After they are available in the TA's office. No grades given byemail.

Missed Exams· No make-up exams.

· If exam missed without a universityaccepted excuse :grade=O for the missed exam.

· Excusesfor missed exams must be pre-approved by theinstructor. Students who make contact after the exam willhave to document why they could not make contact prior tothe exam. In addition, any student who misses an exam dueto physicalillnesswillbe required to providedocumentationfrom a licensed physicianindicatingwhy the student wasphysicallyunable to take the exam. Alldocumentation and anadditional signed written statement explainingthe relevantcircumstances of the absence must be providedto theinstructor within 2 workingdays of the student's return to thecampus. Failureto complyto one of the above in the specifiedmanner willresult in a grade of zero for the exam.
