Since its initiation in 1983, Engineering and Science Services has earned a reputation as one of the finest providers of training and services for practicing engineers and the professional industry in Egypt and the Middle East.
Through its training courses and professional programs, ESS helps industries and individuals achieve their goals. Courses and services are provided to senior professionals, recent graduates and company training officers, among others.

8AVAILABLE FACILITIESAUC faculty members are engaged in world-class research and consulting projects, and are willing to share their experience with industry professionals.ESS facilities include:Computer LaboratoriesAUC has extensive computer facilities, including Pentium processors networked with each other and with other engineering labs, in addition to engineering software packages and applications. Computer-Aided Design LabThe computer-aided design lab (CADLAB) is equipped with the most sophisticated and up-to-date devices and software. The CADLAB network consists of 50 workstations and one server. The lab contains advanced manufacturing hardware, including a laser cutting and engraving machine, a rapid prototyping machine and FARO arm. Computer-aided design and manufacturing software includes: CATIA, Pro-E, Solid Works and Solid Edge Analysis, ABAQUS, ANSYS, ALGOR, COSMOS/DESIGNSTAR, MARC/PATRAN, Fluid Analysis ILOG, MATLAB and SIMULINK.
Failure Analysis, Troubleshooting and Testing of Materials ESS carries out a variety of mechanical, chemical and physical tests on raw materials and end products. All testing procedures are carried out according to the American Society for Testing and Materials international standards. However, other standards may be used upon request.Manufacturing FacilitiesTraditional manufacturing processes available at SSE include casting, rolling, welding, heat treatment, injection molding and machining. The automated manufacturing laboratory is equipped with modern, computer-controlled training facilities, including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe, a CNC milling machine and an industrial-scale robot.
Materials Testing and InspectionThe School of Sciences and Engineering has a complete range of materials-testing machines for metals, building materials, plastics and ceramics. Microscopic examination facilities include optical microscopes, computer-control image analysis systems and a Cambridge 600 stereo scanning electron microscope fitted with an X-ray microanalysis system. Non-destructive testing facilities include ultrasonics, X-rays, magnetic particles, as well as liquid penetrant and plastic testing.
9Thermo Fluids and Air Conditioning FacilitiesESS offers a wide range of industrial measuring devices for temperature, pressure, flow rate and humidity, as well as various refrigeration and air conditioning cycles, fluid me-chanics, power systems and computer-assisted data acquisition.
Performance Evaluation and Fault Diagnosis FacilitiesESS features electromechanical transducers for static and dynamic measurement of pressure, temperature, displacement and force, as well as computer-assisted data logging, transient capture of dynamic signals to assist in malfunction diagnosis, and spectrum analysis equipment for vibration attenuation. ESS can also perform field balancing, computer-based control, noise measurement and analysis.
LibraryThe AUC Library has more than 20,000 engineering books, handbooks and references, as well as approximately 130 current periodicals. Interlibrary loan service is also available for access to resources from anywhere in the world.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND FEESWho Should Attend ESS courses are designed primarily for engineers and scientists. However, technicians, lawyers and other professionals who are working in industry, governmental agencies, universities and research institutes may also find them helpful in strengthening their background in a given topic.
Method of InstructionInstructors use lectures, case studies, discussions and visual aids to present the course material. The teaching materials are in English. However, to improve communication between lecturers and participants, both Arabic and English may be used in instruction. Course participants may use AUCs laboratories and computer facilities.
Time and durationThe courses are designed to be held over five days for 30 hours of instruction, with classes usually beginning at 9 am and ending at 3 pm. In some cases, a course may begin at 3 pm and end at 9 pm.
Deadline for Application Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for registration is one week before the first day of the course. Registration feeThe tuition fees for each course are LE 1,600 for Egyptians and $650 for non-Egyptians. Fees should be paid in cash at Engineering and Science Services or by check payable to AUC. Letters of authorization from companies are acceptable. Participants are urged to pay the fees at least three days before the course begins.
Refund Policy To guarantee a full refund, cancellations must be made no later than two working
days prior to the start of the course. Refunds are not applicable once the course has begun. All requests for refunds must be accompanied by the original payment receipt, the
course materials and a copy of the participants national ID Following a confirmed refund, a check will be issued in the participants name or
company approximately a month after the official request.
Certificate of participationA certificate of participation is presented upon successful completion of each course. Those who successfully complete a series of five courses and submit an acceptable project will be awarded a specialization certificate.
