• What is an Integration Progression Criteria (IPCs)– Defines an acceptable level of performance at a particular point in the IT&C activities.

Systems Integration Modules

• SIMs are not quite the same as the “phases” of DKIST SOWs
• SIMs are not strictly sequential
• Developed by engineers and a scientists
• Starting point is generating flowcharts, working with subsystem experts
• At the end of any given SIM, we may not have achieved any end science goals.

1. SIM 1: Obtain a rough pointing map with the Target acquisition telescope (no M1 yet)
2. SIM 2: Obtain an improved pointing map after M1 is installed and forming an image at prime focus
3. SIM 3: Obtain an improved pointing map in the Gregorian focal plane
4. SIM 5: Obtain an improved pointing map in the coudé IT&C wavefront sensor's context viewer
5. SIM 6b: Obtain an improved pointing map with the WFCS Context Imager

SIM 3: 7.2.3. Nighttime pointing map for Gregorian focal plane obtained.A nighttime pointing map shall be developed for the Gregorian focal plane utilizing the Gregorian focus wavefront sensor’s context viewer.
Integration Progression Criteria: The pointing map shall allow for the acquisition of stars so that they fall within the 30 arcsec field of view of the coudé IT&C wavefront sensor’s context imager.

• FLI was loosely defined as obtaining the first diffraction limited images, but what does that mean in detail?
• Integration Progression Criteria must be detailed, measureable, and unambiguous.
• For FLI, the progression criteria negotiated between SysEngand science.
