For many decades Sasol Wax has focussed on the development

and sales of paraffin waxes, micro waxes, synthetic waxes and

blends or emulsions thereof. Today we serve different industries

like inks, paints & coatings, rubber & tire, paper & packaging,

textiles, cosmetics as well as road construction, candles and

many others.

Micro and macro crystalline waxes are renowned for a wide range

of possible applications. Their use ranges from rather simple

applications to process oriented tailor-made blends for state

of the art production equipment. Specialties are created for

innovative solutions.

Refined paraffin waxes are blends of saturated hydrocarbons,

purified by modern, environmental friendly technologies. All

our products are constantly monitored by a stringent quality

control system and are nontoxic.

Their environmental properties are characterized by good

biodegradability and non-cumulative effects.

Sasol Wax is the leading specialist in innovative wax technology.

HydroWax Emulsions

HydroWax is the trademark of Sasol Wax water based oil

emulsions and wax dispersions. Globally available at consistent

quality these products are manufactured at five production sites

in Europe, USA and South Africa.

Typical applications are within the paper, construction, latex and

chemical industry. In addition highly specialized formulations are

used in the packaging, wood processing and ceramic industry.

HydroWax in Mineral Fibre

HydroWax 88, based on high viscosity hydrocarbon oils, is known

as the benchmark for effective dust binding in European mineral

fibre production. Due to highest requirements on raw materials,

HydroWax 88 minimises evaporation and deposits. Thus it provides

longest maintenance and cleaning intervals at the production line.

HydroWax 85 is based on wax – oil blends, also giving excellent

dust binding properties at reduced costs.

HydroWax 87 was developed as an alternative to the hydro-

carbon based dust binding agents. This emulsion is based on

natural and renewable sources and gives the opportunity for

sustainable binder formulations.

With a high solid content all formulations provide highest effici-

ency on emulsion related technology: Carefully adjusted particle

sizes provide excellent wettability and adhesion. Active ingre-

dients with a flash point of about 300 °C and practically no short

chain hydrocarbons give a surplus of safety in the curing sector.

Long term stability of about 6 months is achieved by combina-

tion of a special emulsifier system with processing in a state of

the art high pressure homogenising unit. HydroWax 88, 85 and

87 are widely tolerant regarding pH, dilution and different bin-

der systems. Therefore the impact on other binder components

or vice versa is very limited, which supports safe and constant

fibre maths production. The emulsion´s character is being

almost shear tolerant with very little foaming tendency. Thus

giving options for dosing, measuring and mixing equipment.

Sasol Wax provides state of the art technology. As a conse-

quence, HydroWax formulations are free of formaldehyde

and are an excellent additive in formaldehyde free binder and

insulation materials.
