PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS/UPDATES:
December and January have been filled with planning. We put together our spring catalog of courses from School Improvement and Model Schools, worked with districts to plan much of their embedded in-district support for School Improvement and Model Schools and began planning our summer work. Additionally, we continued to plan scoring, regional and vendor, for our component districts. In order to meet the variety of needs our districts have, our staff has sought training to aid in their development to better support the districts. We attend state trainings as well as seeking out specific development in areas of need. We continue to show the integration of our ISS services at meetings with county administrators, bringing our data analyst together with the curriculum and assessment people so districts have a clear understanding of how all our parts work together to support them.

Our mission is to be instructional partners in preparing life-long learners for the 21st century.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS/UPDATES: (ex. new initiatives, status of program, updates on older efforts, student achievements, etc.)
Our School Library System Council met to discuss promoting the Battle of the Books participation this winter/spring. Many of our schools work collaboratively
with the public libraries that sponsor the teams. I presented the latest work being done with the Social Studies curriculum Writing for gr.7 & 8. We finished the day
with a webinar showing the updates to TeachingBooks.com
Jeanne Fiedler nominated Janine Carpenter for an Administrative Award in recognition for her support of the Overdrive rollout and moving eBook use forward in
our libraries. Not only did she invest district funds in building the collection, she also supported the effort by dedicating a set of Nooks for Secondary students to
check out.
Jill Parks nominated Jack Strassman for an Administrative Award for all that he has done to implement the PRIDE time each day in the middle school. Jill is
especially appreciative of Jack seeing the value in students’ free choice in reading each day. This daily practice will strengthen them as readers, build vocabulary,
and provide more depth of knowledge. She noted that she is especially pleased that the faculty has been modeling reading each day with the students.
We visited Rutherford Elem. School to work with the library teacher, Joy Tunno, in teaching third grade students to access OverDrive on iPads. The hot titles were
the Wimpy Kid, Judy Moody, Big Nate and Baby Animals series.
The Social Studies Curriculum Writing Group met this month. I presented OverDrive access to them as well as demonstrated the other streaming services we
provide to schools.
