How to install DIS w/ EasyDIS v44 step-by-step

I spent pretty much the entire workdayand evening at home yesterday learningwhat GT1\DIS is, obtaining it, and thenfiguring out how to install it. It was noeasy feat, as I have no access tobmwecu.org, where most of theinformation seems to be hidden(according to the few bits and pieces of information I could obtain). So I've putthe steps I found necessary to installEasyDIS v.44. Credit to bmwecu.org whoapparently developed this easy install.

Software Required:Easy DIS v.44BASE isoEasy DIS v.44Program isoVMware v.6Daemon Tools

NOTE: Follow every directionexactly. When I say to useDaemon Tools, use DaemonTools. I had somecomplications when I burnedthe ISOs to CD, and could notactivate the Programs disc. Icannot help you with the

instructions or install of GT1,this article is the help I haveprovided. -Randomy

Install VMWare Workstationversion 6 using defaultparameters during setup

Open VMWare and create anew Virtual Machine:

Select Typical

Select Other Other

Name the VM

Select Host Only networking

Enter size of disk as 18.635,

and allocate all disk space now

Click Finish and have a smokewhile it create the Virtual Disk

The Virtual Machine is created

We need to make somechanges. First Remove theSound Adpater

Adjust Ethernet adapter to useVMnet1

Add 2 additional Ethernetadapters and also assign themVMnet1

Switch to the options tab, anduncheck drag and drop fromGuest Isolation

Mount EasyDIS-base-44-v1.0 in Daemon Tools

Edit the CD drive of yourVirtual Machine to use theDaemon Tools drive (F: in this

case)

Start the virtual machine andquickly press F2 to enter theBIOS for it

Set the CD-Rom to be the first

boot device

Save and exit the BIOS.The computer will reboot.The installation of GT1 begins.

The installation ends and you

are notifed to eject the CD, andrestart the VM, but do not dothat yet!!:

Eject the iso from DaemonTools

Mount the file GT1_v44_programs inDaemon Tools

Now Shut-Off the VirtualMachine, and Restart itReturn to the BIOS by pressingF2 and set the boot order backto default

Save and Exit, and the VM willboot up

The following screen willappear, select your languageand Vehicle, press the greenarrow to continue

Select your Country, and Enter12345 for Dealer Number. Therest of the info you canmake-upOnce you have entered therequired information, click End> Quit

DIS appears!!

Click Administration and notethat the CD drive shows DISv44.00. If it doesnt, you mayneed to try and mount the file

GT1_v44_programs fromDaemon Tools again

Press Installation under DIS,and enter 12345 (dealernumber) as password

Now you wait for a long time

The installation will complete,press OK

Press End > Quit

You can now use diagnosticsand coding\programming foryour BMW
