Welcome to TFL’s new Colour Trend Catalogue for the season Spring-Summer 2011. In this edition, we present the colour trends for the leather garment, foot-wear, accessory and additionally for the upholstery industry.

We divided the colour trends into "Wearing" and "Living" dedicating each a section within the book. Wearing comprises inspirations and colour trends for garment, footwear and accessories whereas in the Living section all colours are presented that will decorate the season’s interior design. Advantages for TFL customers: knowledge of the future colour preferen-ces and trends helps designers, manufacturers and tanners stay one step ahead of the market. In combination with the fashion colour trends TFL provides information about the appropriate dyes and dye application.

In this edition of the colour trends, we would like to give you a better understanding of our TFL COOL SYSTEM®. Why don’t you use the COOL-technology for dark colours? This will be a “cool” fashion

idea but people wearing it will literally stay cooler. So dark colours for iwarm seasons is no longer a „no-no“ but a cool idea. With COOL Dyes, this is also possible in summer time. Please find more information about COOL shades on the last pages of this book.

>> LivingThe freshness of the sea accompanies us in the Living section of this

book. The Living colours of the spring/summer 2011 season bring a

slight breeze from the Ionian shores into our houses.

New marine shades are developed on nubuk surfaces that are en-

hanced with the Scotchgard leather protector. In the bright shades

of dyed wet-white, we feel the freshness of clothes laid out in the sun

and colours of the candy “smarties”: a strong yellow, a lucent orange

and light blue. Colours are prepared with the TFL COOL SYSTEM® to

prevent that sense of warmth.

On the leather surfaces, we see negative embossings with a waxy

touch and numerous pull-up leathers. All these elements, in combinati-

on with the laser decorations, give the leather a tridimensional effect,

which is definitely the must of the season.

>> LivingLa freschezza del mare ci accompagna nella sezione Living di questo

catalogo. I colori Living della stagione primavera/estate 2011 portano con sè

una leggera brezza, dai lidi ionici fin dentro le nostre case.

Nuove gradazioni marine vengono sviluppate su superfici nubuk,

migliorate grazie all’utilizzo del trattamento Scotchgard. Nelle luminose

sfumature del wet-white tinto, sentiamo la freschezza dei vestiti stesi al sole e

rivediamo i colori dei dolcetti “Smarties”: il giallo intenso, l’arancio lucente e

l‘azzurro. I colori sono preparati con il sistema COOL, er prevenire il senso di

calore. Sulle superfici della pelle notiamo le stampe in negativo con un tatto

ceroso, numerosi gli articoli pull-up. Questi elementi, insieme agli intagli al

laser, contribuiscono a dare alla pelle un effetto tridimensionale, un decisivo

WearingColour and transparency are the base of the next summer season. The Colour Trends spring/summer

2011 want us to stop the minimalism and let strong colours open more possibilities for a friendly world

full of joy. What impact does this have on the leather surfaces? The summer season brings super thin,

soft nubuk, eroded by the sun.

We encounter a reference to African elephant horn in highly opaque vegetabilised leathers polished by

wood. The Japanese “Raku” pottery shows us new metal-pearl reflections in bronze-turquoise, copper-

green, gold-clay and platinum-lilac. Dense suede leathers are decorated with coral accessories, super-

thin or reversible, nappalan finishes or sprinkled in various shades are mixed with engravings of the

seabed and exotic fishes. The maritime topic is present in the Wearing colours, e.g. the thin lacquer on

the shells of the noble Indonesian pearls.

WearingColore e trasparenza sono la base della prossima stagione estiva. Le nuove tendenze primavera/estate

2011 vogliono dire “basta” al minimalismo e lasciare che i colori vivaci aprano le porte ad un mondo

amico pieno di allegria. Ma che impatto avrà tutto questo sulla superficie della pelle?

L’estate ci porta un nubuk soffice, estremamente sottile, eroso dal sole. Incontriamo allora un richiamo

al corno dell’elefante africano in pelli vegetalizzate estremamente opache, verniciate con un effetto

ligneo. Le ceramiche “Raku” del Giappone ci suggeriscono nuovi riflessi metallo-perlacei per un bron-

zeo turchese, verde rame, argilla dorata e lilla platinato.

Pelli scamosciate dense sono decorate con accessori corallo, rifiniture super sottili o reversibili tipo

nappalan o effetti spruzzo in varie tonalità, vengono mixati con incisioni ispirate al fondale marino e ai

pesci esotici. Il tema marino è presente nei colori Wearing, come nella laccatura sottile sulle conchiglie

delle nobili perle indonesiane.

Cool dyes for hot weather

Leather is very much appreciated by the consumers as fashionable and luxurious. Leather is also known as an article holding value and which is very durable. But what can we do to enjoy leather fashion also on hot summer days?

TFL has developed the COOL technology: the first system offered to the leather industry, which is able to avoid heating up of leather garment especially when dark coloured.

This offers the possibility to use more intense shadings in summer collections, too:

For finished leathers it is important to use the appropriate RODA® COOL pigment.

Cool dyes for hot weather How does the COOL technology work?

The TFL COOL SYSTEM® is based on a special technology where the sun’s energy is reflected in the invisible part of the solar spectrum (near infrared area NIR). That is to say, dark colored COOL leathers reflect the sunlight in the same way as light coloured ones.

The advantage: the temperature stays up to 20°C lower on a COOL-black leather article compared to normal black leather.

To achieve the COOL effect, it is mandatory to use only SELLA® COOL dyes and RODA® COOL pigments. COOL pigments are available in all important colours, from light shades to dark colours such as black.
