Larry Malone , a retired senior citizen and retiree advocate from Fenton, wasrecently awarded one of 10 scholarships by the Alliance for Retired Americans toattend the national Alliance convention in Las Vegas.

Mehlville High School senior Curtis Israel and Oakville High School seniors JordanSchlechte and Daniel Stefanus have beenselected for the 2010 Missouri Scholars100, a statewide program honoring 100 of Missouri top academic students in the 2010graduating class. Marsha Wisely receivedan honorable mention from the program forher outstanding academic record.

Lindbergh High School seniors Kathryn Hagerty and Audrey Dang were selected for the2010 Missouri Scholars 100.

Affton High School senior Andrew Bliss hasbeen selected for the 2010 Missouri Scholars100. Students will be recognized at a luncheon inColumbia on April 25.

Area high school basketball stars played in theMcDonalds All American Basketball Games in Columbus Ohio, on March 31:Boys team, Garrett Reed from Oakville Senior High School and Kevin Dwyer from Rockwood Summit High School; girls team, Megan Moran from AfftonHigh School. From over 2,000 boys and girls nominated, the 48 best players (24boys and 24 girls) in the nation were selected.

Kathy May , a 2009 Lindbergh High School graduate, receivedthe St. Louis College of Pharmacy Scholar -Athlete award for thewomens basketball team. She is a rst-year pharmacy studentand varsity basketball player. She is the daughter of Bob andSharon May of Sappington.

Sperreng Middle School eighth-grader Brenna Kizer , Melissa Nolan and Roxana Toth were chosen as nalists inthe Express the Music 2010, a writing competition presented bythe Saint Louis Symphony Volunteer Association and sponsoredby the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis.

Lindbergh High School students won prizes at the Missouri state DECA competition in March and will continue on to the international competition: Vedad

Karahodzic and Joe Fiala took third place in the Business Law and Ethics TeamDecision Making event; Maria DiPaola took rst place in the Food Marketingevent (This is her third year advancing to the international competition); Shira

LeDeaux took second place in the Accounting event (This isher second year advancing to the international competition).

Lindbergh High School senior Michael Herbig has beenawarded the Western Golf Associations Chick Evans CaddieScholarship to the University of Missouri-Columbia, beginningwith the fall 2010 term. Herbig was nominated for the fullscholarship by Sunset Country Club, where he has worked asa caddy for four years.
