and Department of Food & Public Distribution, Delhi(8-9 May, 2017)
Discussion on the use of VEDAS-based ‘app’ for field data collection on
Sugarcane (fresh & ratoon) plantation at various stages of sowing and harvesting
As a part of requirement from Department of Food &
Public Distribution, Govt. of India, two cooperative
sugar factories situated in Bharuch have been
selected for initiating the use of remote sensing,
GPS and GIS data for forecasting cane and sugar
production in mill command area.
Scientists/Engineers from SAC and a Asst.
Professor from Anand Agriculture University
participated in the interactions and field visit.

Field verification of fresh and ratoon sugarcane crop
Laboratory Visits
Avenues of cooperation have been discussed for future advanced R&D in the field of
precision farming and yield estimation.
