Target audience0 This is data is gathered from my target audience survey, has helped me to

decide who to aim my target audience at for my music magazine.

0 My target audience would be girl between the age of 15 – 19 years old. By narrowing down my target audience I would be able to feature similar topics that these age group would like, also it allows me to inform and entertain them. In addition, I have chosen to aim my magazine towards females because from the results of my survey, it told me that girls would have a higher chance of buying music magazines. Therefore, by targeting females I would increase the chance of my magazine being sold at the market. My magazine would be priced between £1 - £2 becuase this is a price that is affordable for students and young teenagers, which can ensure that my target audience would be likely to buy my magazine over others because it is reasonable and cheaper compared to other music magazines.

Title0 At the start of the project I have created some names that I would be suitable

for my music magazine, they are “K Star”, “Infinity K” and “South Star”. I have then selected “K Star” as my title becuase it is catchy thus making it easier for the readers to recognise my music magazine. In addtition, the name “K Star” shows the reader that this magazine features Korean idols and up-coming artists which could interest those that are into following celebrities and popular Korean music. However, . From the information gathered they like “….” the best,….

0 The title would be in a bold font and it would be positioned at the top of the page, this would allow the reader to see the title first. I have decided that the title should be in the colour, gold. This colour is suitable for my magazine becuase this colour is striking and bold. Gold can also suggest luxury and ... Which shows the reader that my magazine is ...

However, The colour of the title would also be in “…” because the results from my questionnaire shows me that my target audience prefers to see this colour on the magazine.

Choice of genre0 My magazine would be specialised in Korean pop music. I have

chosen this genre because I think that it helps to introduce readers to a foreign genre. This would allow them to understand other people of different nationality and their culture in an effective way. Another reason as to why I have chosen Korean pop music is that it does not just offer pop music, it also includes rock, dance pop, electric and R ‘n’ B. All these genres are part of Korean pop music, this can introduce the readers to a variety of music in a single magazine.

0 This genre of music is also unique and special, therefore it would appeal to readers that enjoy discovering new music and different cultures, which can increase the popularity of Korean music in the UK.

Contents of whole magazine

0 Overall, my magazine would feature new artists, popular Korean idols and bands. These topics are approprate for my target audience because it allows them to be aware of different styles of music and various idols that are from a different culture. This can inform and entertain my target audience at the same time which is an effective quality about featuring a different genre of music that British people rarely interact with.

0 In addition, my music magazine would resemble the style of a Korean music magazine and a pop magazine. I want to combine both traits into my music magazine so that it is entertaining to read like a pop magazine yet have a unique sense of style from exploring Korean music magazines.

Initial ideas for front cover0 My front cover would have an image of an new artist that I’m going to

feature inside my magazine in the centre of the page. This can show the reader who would be in my magazine and it could attract my target audience into reading my magazine.

0 The strapline would be positioned at the sides to avoid covering the image. They would be in a clear font so that the readers would be able to read the information clearly and the straplines would inform the read of important topics such as new artists or up-coming events about Korean bands and idols.

0 The price and barcode would be placed at the lower right corner of the page. This can ensure that it would not block off an content of the page yet still be noticable for the reader. In addition, it makes my magazine more realistic hence resembling real magazines that are existing in the industry.

Initial ideas for contents page

0 My contents page would be separated into columns to ensure that it is clear and structured so that the reader would have ease with reading the text. The font of the text would be same throughout all of the magazine except for the title and artist/ Korean idols and band names, They would be in a bolder font to indicate to who they are and their importance.

0 I would have images that are relevant to the magazine in different sizes to indicate the importance of each article and they would be placed next to the features articles with page numbers beside them to inform the reader which page they can find this article from.

Initial ideas for double page spread

0 I would have the title of the topic towards the top of the page on the left side of the page together with an image of a new featuring artist, that fills ½ or 1/3 of the page. I have chose to this kind of layout becuase when the reader reads a magazine they would usually read from the left to right therefore the title and the image wouldbe what they see first and their focus would be on this topic.

0 The text layout would be placed towards the left and it would be in colomuns. By using this layout the information would be exhibited in a clear and structured way which is proved to be a successful way of presenting information to the readers becuase many music magazines also use this kind of layout.

Initial ideas for photographs

0 I have decided to use medium long shot and medium shots for most of my images, because it would clearly present to the reader who is going to be featured in the magazine and it is to ensure that my magazine would resemble an existing magazine to show that it would be successful in the market.

0 I would also encourage the use of props such as headphones or a instrument to show the reader that this is a music magazine and that Korean music uses a variety of intruments from techno music to guitars.
