Dear Taekwondo participants and competitors,

I would like to extend the warmest invitation for you to participate in the 1st

International Multicultural Taekwondo Championship. This competition will be held at

Darebin Community Sports Stadium, Melbourne Victoria (VIC) Australia over 2 days

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January 2018.

We aim to create a competition that will allow all competitors to excel and

demonstrate their abilities, while enjoying a friendly international competitive

environment.

We invite up to 500 competitors from international teams which have a high standard

and strong countries to provide the competitive opportunities to Australian

Taekwondo participates.

Our intention is to generate an environment that promotes fairness, tolerance and

shows the general public a high degree of integrity, increasing awareness and

interest in our martial art.

I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this competition as we

join in this first event, with many other events planned for the future.

7. Parking: Free parking is available at the venue

8. Competition entry: Entries open on Saturday 25th November 2017

10. Event entry fees: AUD $70 per event / maximum 3 events per competitor

11. Draw: First draw will be published on 7th January 2018

Final draw will be published on 14th January 2018

12. Awards:

All events recognise 1st, 2nd and 3rd with medal. In addition to medals and all

competitors will receive a certificate.

Team awards - Cups will be awarded based on a medal tally for 1st, 2nd and

3rd placed teams. 5 MVPlayers and 5 MVInstructors will be awarded.

14. Safety equipment for Kyorugi (Sparring):

✓ Electronic Chest Guard will be provided

✓ NO PSS socks required

✓ White or Clear mouth guard

✓ Red / Blue or White head guard

✓ Groin guard

✓ Shin / Arm guards

15. Coach Registration:

All clubs are to forward a coach list by email to [email protected] by 7th

January 2018 who meet the following criteria:

✓ Kukkiwon Instructor Certificate holder OR

✓ Head Instructor or Club Owner OR

✓ Kukkiwon 3rd Dan Black belt and above

✓ If none of above met, head instructor can nominate a coach (Black belt)

16. Liability: Kukkiwon Australia will provide the individual accident insurance for

all competitors, however all participants in the tournament take part at their

own risk. The organizer can under no circumstances be held responsible for

any damages, injuries or loss to individuals or equipment.

17. Privacy Statement: Personal details are collected solely for the purpose of

the organising the competition. Health information (regarding existing

conditions / allergies etc) is for our records only and will not be disclosed to

first-aid personnel or any other party.

18. Competitors: All competitors need to print their declaration form and submit it

at check-in on the day or head instructor can organize a bulk sign up on the

spread sheet.

19. Uncontested players: Uncontested players may elect to receive either a

medal or a refund, however it will be considered if a player wishes to move up

an age, belt or weight division to get a match.

20. Venue restrictions on food:

The venue is very strict on how much food and beverage can be brought in

from outside. Patrons are not allowed to bring eskies and luggage with bulk

quantities of food. Individuals with a small amount ‘single serve’ food /

beverage is allowed.

21. Age divisions: All competitor’s ages are as at 31 December 2017

23. Spectator tickets pricing:

All tickets will be available for purchase by cash at the entry door. Spectators

1. Kyorugi (Sparring) - Tournament

• Current WTF rules apply

• Weigh in will allow 2 chances in 30 minutes, 0.5kg allowance, failure at

weigh in results in disqualification

• No head kicks for ages 9 years old and under

• Head kicks for all other color belts ages above 9 years old will be allowed

only if both coaches are agree.

• Head kicks for all black belts ages over 9 years old

2. Poomsae (Patterns) – Tournament

• Pair Poomsae must comprise of 1 male and 1 female

• Team Poomsae must comprise of 3 to 5 members

3. Power breaking (Fist / Knife hand breaking) – 1 chance allowed

• When tied 1-Lower weight advantage, 2-Lower grade / level, 3-Lower age

• No jumps are allowed, both feet are to be on the ground at impact

• Power breaking (Side / Back kick) – 3 steps movement to the target

allowed

4. High jump kicks – 1 chance allowed

• Jump kicks must break the board for proof of success

• All round tournament – start from lower level and raise higher.

5. Group competition (Free style performance)

• 7 to 11 competitors in a team (Male, Female or mixed)

• 3 divisions are Junior under 12 years old / Junior 12-18 years old / Senior

18+ years old

• Competition lasts up to 3 minutes and must include 70% Taekwondo

composition

• Free choice of music - music must be submitted to the committee 30

minutes prior to competition
