What is Social Networking ?

• One in every nine people on Earth is on Facebook

• Users on YouTube spend a total of 2.9 billion hours per month (326,294 years)

• People upload 3,000 images to Flickr every minute

• 190 million average Tweets per day occur on Twitter

• Google+ was the fastest social network to reach 10 million users at 16 days (Twitter took 780 days and Facebook 852 days)

Growth In Social Networking

• The most glaring disadvantage of social networking sites is the risk of identity theft and fraud.

• The personal information of users can be used by dubious people for illegal activities. Information like the e-mail address, name, location, and age can be used to commit online crimes.

• Usually once information is published on the internet, it is there forever.

• Sites like Facebook have been used to make the decision in whether an employer will hire someone
