Important information

You have 180 minutes to solve the practical exercises.

Devices allowed for the exam: computer assigned to the candidate, paper, pen, pencil, ruler, sealed notepaper.

You can take notes on the internal sides of the exercise sheet and the notepaper, these should be submitted at the end of the exam but their content will not be evaluated.

The exercises can be solved in any order.

Please pay attention to frequent saving (every 10 minutes); it is strongly suggested that you save your work every time you start a new exercise.

You should save your exam work in the exam directory that corresponds with your name. Check that this directory is accessible; if it is not accessible, notify the supervising teacher at the beginning of the exam.

Save your works in the exam directory and at the end of the exam check that every solution is in the given directory because only those solutions can be evaluated. Check that the files to be submitted are readable because files that cannot be opened cannot be evaluated.

The source files can be found in the exam directory.

It is suggested that you read through the exercises first, and then solve the individual exer-cise parts one by one.

If your computer has technical problems, indicate it to the supervising teacher. The fact of indication and the observed problem will be recorded. The lost time will be added to the dura-tion of the exam. If the problem is not of computer nature, the correcting teacher should take the description of the case in the record into consideration. (The system administrator cannot help the candidate with the solution of the exercises.)

At the end of the exam you should indicate the number and name of files created and submitted by you and located in the exam directory and its subdirectories on the first page of the exam document. When finishing the exam, do not leave the room until you have done so and have shown it to the supervising teacher.

1. Columbus

File kolforras.txt contains an excerpt from Columbus’ logbook. Format the document according to the attached example and the description.

1. Open file kolforras.txt using the word processing program. Save your work as kolumbusz in the default format of the program.

2. Delete the spaces at the beginning of the paragraphs and the empty paragraphs in the whole document. Pay attention not to create such during your work either.

3. In the document the page size is A5, the left and right margins are both 1 cm and the top and bottom margins are both 1.5 cm.

4. Ensure that unit “sea mile” remains in one line regardless of the length of the lines. Set that the two lines of the dates and the beginning of the paragraph following them fall on the same page.

5. If not specified else, the characters in the text have font type Times New Roman or Nim-bus Roman and font size of 10 points.

6. The font size of the title is 36 points and the font type is similar to handwriting, for exam-ple Monotype Corsiva or Brush Script. The spacing before it should be between 12 and 24 points (0.42 and 0.85 cm) and after it between 24 and 36 points (0.85 and 1.27 cm).

7. The font type of the dates in the logbook (which all appear in capital letters in the source) should be similar to handwriting, for example Monotype Corsiva or Brush Script and should be aligned right at 3.5 cm.

8. The indent of the daily notes is 4 cm from the left, within them the first line of the para-graphs has an additional indent of 0.5 cm.

9. Set the alignment of the paragraphs according to the example.

10. Insert picture karavella.jpg next to the first paragraph, scale it proportionally so that its height becomes 4 cm. Place the picture so that it does not alter the text layout.

11. The text parts in brackets (there are 3 of them) should be in italics.

12. Put the texts in the square brackets (there are 3 of them) into footnotes belonging to the word in front of the opening bracket. Delete the square brackets from the document.

13. Use hyphenation in the document.

14. Set page numbering at the bottom of the page, on the left. The starting page number is 11, the font size is 10 points and the font type is the same as the one used in the title.

2. Tangram

Tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle. It is entertaining but it requires considerable combi-nation skills. Create a presentation to introduce the game using the following files: 01.png, 02.png, 03.png, 04.png, 05.png, 06.png, 07.png, futo.png, macska.png, madar.png, tangram.png, szoveg.txt.

1. Create a presentation consisting of 3 slides based on the example and the description. Save your work as tangram in the default format of the presentation program.

2. Apply the following settings on the three-slide presentation:

a. The background of the slides should be lavender, a colour with RGB code (204, 204, 255) and the text and the titles should be navy blue, a colour with RGB code (0, 0, 128).

b. Use Arial (Nimbus Sans) font type on the slides. The font size should be 60 and 32 points on the first slide, 44, 26 and 24 points on the second slide and 44 and 28 points on the third slide.

3. Type in the word “TANGRAM” as the title of the first slide. Format it with bold style. The subtitle should be text “An ancient Chinese puzzle”.

4. Insert file futo.png into the first slide. Increase its size to twice the original keeping the aspect ratio. Create the second picture through copying and reflection and then place the pictures into the lower left and right corners of the slide according to the example.

5. On the second slide, insert the text according to the example from file szoveg.txt, which has UTF-8 coding, then format it according to the example. (Do not leave unneces-sary spaces in the text when creating the bulleted list!)

6. Insert picture tangram.png next to the text, change its size to 9×9 cm. The upper left corner of the image should be 0 cm vertically and 2 cm horizontally from the centre of the slide.

7. On the third slide, insert the text according to the example from file szoveg.txt, and then display the rules as elements of a numbered list.

8. Create the following drawing on the third slide using files 01.png, …, 07.png. (Use shifting, reflection and rotation when creating the drawing.) Place the created drawing on the left side of the slide according to the example so that it does not cover the text.

9. Insert pictures madar.png and macska.png into the third slide. Align the pictures according to the example so that the feet of the “animals” fall on the same line.

10. Create an animation for the two pictures on the first slide, where the pictures float in together, automatically after the text and slower than the default value. Set the animation so that the left-hand picture floats in from the left and the right-hand picture floats in from the right.

3. Chicken

Based on the following description and example create a web page to introduce chicken.

The files to be created are tyuk.html and elnevezes.html. The text of the pages can be found in file hazityuk.txt, which has UTF-8 coding. The images required for the solu-tion of the exercise are hatter.jpg, kakas_kep.gif, tyuk_kep.gif and nagy_kep.gif.

1. First create page tyuk.html. The background picture of the page is hatter.jpg, the text colour is dark blue (code #003399).

2. The skeleton of the page is a box in the middle whose width is 700 pixels and is filled with yellowish white colour (code #EEEECC), which contains the text and the images, according to the example.

3. The title (“Chicken”) should be Heading 1 and aligned centered. The title appearing in the header of the browser should be the same.

4. Picture tyuk_kep.gif should appear on the left side and kakas_kep.gif should ap-pear on the right side of the box in the same line as the title, according to the example.

5. Insert the text of the page from file hazityuk.txt according to the example.

6. The style of subtitle “Domestication and origin” should be Heading 2.

7. The species playing a part in the evolution of chicken should appear in a list.

8. Align text “Naming” at the end of the text body right and convert it into a link that leads to the other file to be created (elnevezes.html).

9. Create file elnevezes.html. The background colour of the page is yellowish white (code #EEEECC), the text colour is dark blue (code #003399).

10. The title (“Naming”) should have style Heading 1. The title appearing in the header of the browser should be “Chicken” again.

11. Copy the text on the page from the end of source file hazityuk.txt.

12. Display the explanation of the namings in a list and highlight the names with bold style. The Latin name of chicken should be in italics.

13. Insert picture nagy_kep.gif with a border of 1 point after the title, next to the text on the right.

4. Taxi

The Urban Taxi Company registers some important data for each driver every day and then processes them. Its aim is to make its operation more economical.

Process the data of the Wednesday working day of Tax Simon, a driver of the company us-ing a worksheet processor. The data can be found in text file vtt.txt, which is tagged by tabs and has UTF-8 coding. During the solution take the followings into consideration:

• Whenever possible, use a formula, function or reference in the solution. • If you wish to use the results of a previous exercise part in another exercise part, but you

could not solve the former one completely, use its solution as it is, or — considering the small number of data — in the case of time data enter a value between 12 and 18 minutes into the cells, and in other cases use the value 961.2 and work on with this value. This way you may receive marks for this exercise part as well.

1. Create an empty table and insert the contents of file vtt.txt starting from column 2 of row 1 on its worksheet named Wednesday. Save the thus created table as taxi in the de-fault format of the worksheet processor.

2. In column 1, enter text “Identifier” into the row containing text “Time of ordering”, under it display the identifier of the travels in each row describing a travel. The identifier – as shown in the example – consists of the name of the date, a dash and the serial number of the given travel.

3. In column Waiting time determine for each passenger the time elapsed from the time of ordering to the time of boarding.

4. In column Reading on taximeter determine the fare indicated by the taximeter at the time of arrival using a formula that can be copied without error. The fare consists of two parts: a base fare that is independent of the distance travelled and a fare per km, which is de-pendent on the distance travelled. The fare per kilometre and the base fare can be found in the first and second rows of the table, respectively.

5. The Urban Taxi Company offers a discount to its passengers. They drop a part of the fare so that it can be paid off with 100-HUF coins. For example, if at the end of the travel the taximeter indicates 1583 HUF, then only 1500 HUF has to be paid. Considering this, de-termine the payable amount in column Payable fare.

6. In column Speed determine the average speed of the taxi measured in km/hour. The aver-age speed is the ratio of distance travelled and time elapsed from boarding to arrival. Dur-ing the solution take into consideration that the time data are given with an accuracy of one minute.

7. In row 1, in the cell next to “Total distance” determine the total distance travelled by the taxi with passengers on the given day and in row “Income” determine the income of the given day.

8. Passengers using the service frequently receive a badge on this day. Next to cell “Total gift” display the sum spent on this. The price of one badge can be found next to cell “Gift”. For frequent passengers column Frequent passenger card no. contains the card number.

9. Most people think that the taxis are used for shorter travels in the morning than in the af-ternoon. On a new worksheet create a column chart that shows the distance travelled as the function of the times of ordering to prove or disprove this belief. Format the data

points belonging to distances smaller than 3 km with yellow colour and the others with green. The category axis should contain the times of ordering and the value axis should contain the distances. Pay attention to each time of ordering being readable.

10. Format the data in the table. Display the cells containing times in format hour:minute. Display the distances travelled with an accuracy of two decimal figures and also add the unit “km”. The fares (including the reading on the taximeter) should appear rounded to in-tegral values, with thousands separation and the indication of the currency. Set italics for the characters in the calculated cells. Perform these settings in the first three rows as well.

11. Format the table according to the example. Add a double border to all three blocks con-taining data. Set equal column width. Pay attention to cell containing text Frequent pas-senger card no. being displayed according to the example.

12. The worksheet containing the data should be placed on a page with landscape orientation. The header contains text “Urban Taxi Company” in bold style and the footer contains the date in the middle.

5. Nobel Prize in Literature

Files iro.txt and fold.txt, which have UTF-8 coding and are tagged by tabs contain the lists of the names and the places of birth for people receiving the Nobel Prize in literature from 1901 to 2006.

1. Create a new database with name nobeldij. Import the supplied data tables into the da-tabase with names iro and fold. The txt files are tagged by tabs and their first lines contain the field names.

2. After importing check or set the suitable data types and keys. Do not add a new identifier field in table fold but do add a new identifier field in table iro.

3. Using a query, list the names of writers receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature between 1960 and 1970 in ascending order according to the years. The first and last years of the examined interval are also included. (A)

4. Using a query, list the Nobel Prize winning writers of France. (B)

5. Give the years (each only once) when several people received the Prize, that is, the Prize was shared. Display only the years and the number of writers receiving the prize in the given year, do not display any other fields in the query. (C)

6. Using a query, determine the number of Prize winners per continent in descending or-der. (D)

7. Create a query that determines the Prize winners who were born on the same continent as poet Pablo Neruda. The result may include the poet’s name. (E)

8. Using a query, answer the following question: the writers of which countries received more Nobel Prizes than Denmark? The answer should include the names or the countries and the number of Prizes. (F)
