As NECA Boston responds to the ever-changing cir- cumstances related to the coronavirus crisis, we will take all steps necessary to reduce pressure on our healthcare professionals and our local communities, while at the same time, to ensure that our region’s critical facilities and infra- structure that serve the public remain operational. As the leading voice of the electrical construction industry in the nation, NECA has taken a lead- ing, proactive role to keep our contractors and work- ers informed of all govern- ment-mandated policies and advisories relating to COVID-19, as well as to ensure the most strin- gent safety practices are employed in the workplace and on construction sites as conditions warrant. The Boston Chapter continues to work with Local 103, Local 490, Local 567, and Local 1253; the Mayors’ and Governors’ offices; the building trades; and our contractor asso- ciation partners to deter- mine guidelines that would allow these sites to safely reopen in Greater Boston and statewide in MA, NH, and ME. NORWOOD, MA – LAN-TEL Communications, Inc., head- quartered in Norwood, MA, is responding to the emergency public health safety and secu- rity needs of cities and towns throughout Massachusetts dur- ing the COVID-19 pandemic with advanced thermal imag- ing Elevated Body Temperature (EBT) Screening solutions designed to help dramatically slow the spread of the virus. LAN-TEL’s thermal imaging camera solutions for EBT screen- ing are FDA 510k approved and are available in handheld, tripod- mount, and fixed-mount models. The cameras are effective tools in measuring skin temperature and identifying individuals with Elevated Body Temperature – with accuracy to 0.5°+/-°F, reducing potential COVID-19 exposure to staff, patients and the public. BOSTON, MA – In the emer- gent, fast-track conversion of Boston Convention & Exhibition Center into a temporary 1,000- bed field hospital for COVID- 19 patient care, LAN-TEL Communications has installed the facility’s phones to the net- work allowing for internal com- munications. The project also entailed LAN-TEL’s verification of the telecom system to the net- work for functionality. Care for patients at the BCEC field hospital, now known as Boston Hope Hospital, began Friday, April 10. The BCEC project was planned and is managed by the Baker-Polito Administration in collaboration with the City of Boston and community health care partners to help alleviate the surge in COVID-19 patients on the state’s health care sys- tem and area hospitals. The site will provide 500 beds for Boston’s homeless population and 500 beds for non-critical, recovering coronavirus patients. Partners Health Care will lead the clinical efforts at the BCEC in collaboration with Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. LAN-TEL also been working on other emergent telecom projects at MGH, including a joint effort with Sullivan & McLaughlin Companies (SullyMac) in the wiring for telecommunications in a COVID-19 screening area in the ambulance bay at Mass General.
