Wahana  Lingkungan  Hidup  Indonesia    was  established  on  15th  October  1980  in  response  to  the  injus9ce  in  the  use  and  access  of  natural  resources  and  basic  essen9als  that  support  livelihoods.    WALHI  advocates  for  a  fair  and  democra9c  social,  economic  and  poli9cal  

system  that  guarantee  basic  rights  to  livelihoods  and  a  healthy  environment  for  our  people  

•  1990  -­‐  Climate  change  study:    Forest  conserva9on,  Ozone  /  CFC  in  Indonesia,  energy(emissions  and  renewable  energy  op9ons)  

•  1991  –  Studies  and  a  series  of  discussions  on  climate  change  •  1992  –  Following  the  Earth  Summit  •  1993  –  Began  introducing  energy  and  climate  change  programmes  •  1994  –  Became  a  member  of    Na9onal  Commission    of  climate  change  and  the  

only  DELRI  from  the  CSO.  •  1995  -­‐  Awareness  campaigns  with  KLH,  cri9cizing  the  government’s  posi9on  in  rela9on  

to  the  CDM.  •  1999    s/d  2004  –    Energy  and  climate  change  programmess  ceased  in  the  EN,  func9onal  

structure  (all  were  merged  into  the  campaign  division).    S9ll  engaged  in  climate  change,  focusing  on  lobbying  against  CDM  ini9a9ves.  

•  2005  -­‐  PNLH  IX  mandated  the  energy  programme.  •  2006  –  Ini9al  discussions  on  the  reac9va9on  of  CAN  Indonesia.  •  2007  –    Present  in  SBSTA  Bonn  and  involved  with  CSO  in  discussing  the  COP  13  •  2008  s/d  2011  –  Ac9vely  involved  in  the  nego9a9on  rounds  of  the  UNFCCC,  REDD  

advocacy  and  climate  finance  ,  safety  mainstreaming  of  women  in  climate  change  resolu9on.

Emission  Reduc9on  Procedure  from  REDD  -­‐  Ar9cle  3,  REDD  can  be  made  on  logging  concession,  pulpwood  

planta9on,  community  forestry,  etc  -­‐  Ar9cle  13,  REDD  implementa9on  period  is  no  longer  than  30  years  

and    can  be  extended    -­‐  Ar9cle  14,  Trade  in  cer9ficates  of  REDD  for  post  2012  carbon  

trading  associated  with  the  implementa9on  of  emission  reduc9on  commitments  of  developed  countries.
