Strictly ‘No Entry’ for Parents/Guardians/Accompanying Persons/Coaches in the Tournament Hall Venue & Date: Indian Chess School in collaboration with the King’s Chess Academy would be conducting it’s the 1st Maharashtra Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament for School children for the B.M. Zaveri Memorial Trophy at the Don Bosco High School, Opp. Khalsa College, Matunga (Central Railway), Mumbai – 400019 from 26th to 30th December 2013. The tournament is a FIDE Rating tournament recognized by the All India Chess Federation, Maharashtra Chess Association and Bombay Chess Association and, is open to the school children below 15-years (born on or after 01.01.1998) who are staying and studying within the jurisdiction of the State of Maharashtra (Players will be required to submit copy of birth certificate and school identity card). Prize Distribution: 30/12/2013 – 03.30 PM A total of 31 prizes in Cash totaling to Rs.1,25,000/- shall be awarded as under. The special age-category prizes shall be awarded in the form of 6 Trophies. The Champion of the tournament shall also be awarded the B.M. Zaveri Memorial Trophy. 1. Special Trophies to 3-Best Players: Under-7 & 9 categories for Boys & Girls separately. 2. These special prizes shall be awarded only within the age-groups. 3. For Example: a player under-7 shall not be eligible for U-9 prize 4. Age shall be reckoned as on 01st January 2013. 5. Prizes shall not be shared and a player would be eligible for one higher prize only. 6. Participation Certificate would be issued to all the players. 7. Prizes shall be forfeited if the recipient of the prize is not present in the PD function.

Entry Fees: Rs.1000/- if registered on or before 23.12.2013 Rs.1300/- (with Late Fee) for Registration after 23.12.2013 & Rs.1500/- for Spot Entries On-line Registration of Entries: Indian Chess School has introduced the on-line submission of entries! Participants can confirm their entries by logging on to the website: www.indianchessschool.com and fill in the on-line registration form. Entries by telephone or sms also would not be accepted. The on-line registration closes on 23rd December, 2013 at 22.00 hours. The list of confirmed entries would be uploaded on the website at regular basis. Entry Submission: The entry form can be submitted at the following centers of the Indian Chess School. It is mandatory to forward the entry form in the prescribed format along with the entry fee. The list of hotels and guest house within the vicinity of the venue would be uploaded on the website. ‘No Parking’ in the School premises, No Provision of Chairs for Accompanying Persons: Participants and accompanying person coming by cars are kindly request to note that vehicles are not allowed inside the school premises – strictly ‘No Parking’ in the School premises as per the School orders. Please co-operate with the School’s Security staff in this regard. The Church is located in the school’s premises. Please maintain the sanctity of Church. Please make a note that it is not possible to provide chairs for persons accompanying the participants. System of Play: The Championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of nine rounds. The time control is 90 minutes/player for the entire game with 30 seconds increment per move from move one. The organizers have sufficient digital clocks as such, players are not required to bring their personal clocks.

Article 6.6: Default Time: The rules of the competition specify that any player who arrives at the chessboard 15-minutes after the start of the session shall lose the game. Thus the default time is ‘Fifteen Minutes’. Article 9.1: The Drawn Game The rules of a competition specify that players cannot draw the game by mutual agreement before 25 moves without the consent of the Arbiter. Tie Break: The latest FIDE tie-breaking shall be applied to resolve the tie. However, the prizes would not be shared. Protests: Protests, if any against the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.500/- within 30 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount shall be refunded if the appeal is upheld. Appeals Committee: A five member Committee of Appeal shall be formed from amongst officials/coaches present on the Inaugural day. The decisions of the Appeals Committee would be final and binding on all the participants. Interpretation: For interpretation of the Rule(s) and for deciding any point not covered by the above rules of the tournament, the decision of the tournament committee shall be final and binding on all. The tournament committee has every right to make any addition or amendment to these rules, without notice. Such changes shall, however, be displayed in the tournament hall. AICF/MCA Registration of players for the year 2013-2014: Only AICF/MCA registered players will be allowed to take part in this meet. For unregistered players AICF & MCA registration facility will be made available at the venue on payment of Rs.250/- and Rs.120/- respectively. Such formality should be completed before the end of round three.
