  • INDEX TO CD REVIEWS COMPILED BY PAUL CAUTHEN AND MARK PALKOVIC

The index has two sections. The first is a listing by label with entries subarranged by compact disc (CD) number. The second is a listing by composer of the contents of the first section, with cross references to the manufacturer number.

Under the description of each release is a list of review citations. The symbol preceding each citation primarily indicates the reviewer's opinion of performance quality; the re- viewer's judgments on the quality of the music itself are disregarded. The technical quality of the recording also may be taken into account in assigning the symbols. Three primary grades of opinion are indicated: + excellent, o adequate, and - inadequate. The symbol o indicates that the review, whatever else it may supply, offers no clear statement on the performance and recording.
