Space for representative from Boone to make pitch for help (if someone wishes) REPORT OF THE PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Boise—August 19, 2017 Presbyterian Women of the Boise Presbytery have planned a Fall Retreat for October 6-8 at Nazareth Center,

Boise. The theme is ‘Growing Our Faiths’ by focusing on the religions which developed ‘Under the Tent of Abraham.’ There will be speakers from the three desert religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as from the Agency for New Americans, Boise. Registration will close September 20: $100 per person double-occupancy for Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast. Individuals may obtain information by contacting Priscilla Oja at [email protected].

On August 26, there will be a meeting of the coordinating team of Presbyterian Women of the Boise Presbytery at First Presbyterian Church in Emmett, ID. At this meeting we will talk about the Spring Gathering in 2018 as well as final preparations for the October Retreat. We are still looking for someone to be the editor of SpiritWeaving, the bi-annual newsletter for the PW of the Presbytery of Boise. There are a number of events on our future calendar:

2017 PWPCT meeting at FPC, Emmett, 9:30 – 1:00 pm. 2017 Global Exchange to Indonesia, September 12-29, 2017: Mary Lemm Davis from Hermiston will represent the Synod of the Pacific. Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Parma, ID CALL TO ORDER A quorum (consisting of three minister members [teaching elders] and three ruling elders representing three different churches) being present, moderator Madeline Buckendorf called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and offered the opening prayer. AGENDA The agenda was adopted as presented. WELCOME TE David Carlson welcomed Presbytery to Kirkpatrick Memorial. FIRST-TIME ELDERS AND VISITORS First-time Elders and visitors were introduced. Visitors included Barbara Hindman and Katharyn Mattson (Nampa), Rona Williams (Shared Ministries) and John Hicks (Boise First). WORSHIP Worship was led by Dick Green and members of Kirkpatrick Memorial. Moderator Madeline Buckendorf reconvened the meeting at 10:30 a.m. APPROVAL OF THE STATED MEETING MINUTES – FEBRUARY 4, 2017 Presbytery voted to adopt the minutes as presented. Presbyterian Church Administrative Commission. REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE PRESBYTER Daryl Wilson was out of town for Executive training so there was no report. REPORT OF SHARED MINISTRY COMMITTEE– Rona Williams Rona invited the members of Presbytery to interact with the Shared Ministry Committee by providing input about programs needed/wanted; speakers to invite and by helping out to put together a piece of a conference. REPORT OF THE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE – Marilyn Blair-Clausen For Information:

1. The Boone Synod loan has been approved.

For Action:

1. The Financial Management Committee recommended that Boone Presbyterian and Bright Start

Day Care Center be approved to sign a facility lease. The lease is for two years and is renewable.

It will be effective in approximately two weeks after child welfare and building inspections are

completed. Presbytery voted to approve.

of the Pacific be authorized for Southminster up to $1 million and that the Presbytery of Boise

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON MINISTRY – Ruth Goldthwaite For Information:

1. The COM approved the following commission members for the purpose of Installing the Rev.

Kevin Starcher as pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

a. Teaching Elders: Daryl Wilson, Alex Chamberlain

b. Ruling Elders: Evelyn Cates, Mathew Eardley, Madeline Buckendorf (Moderator of

Presbytery).

2. The Commission completed its task by installing the Rev.Kevin Starcher on Sunday, April 30,

2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church. (Appendix II) For Action: Committee on Ministry recommends that the commission to install the Rev. Kevin Starcher be dismissed with thanks. Presbytery voted to approve. REPORT OF PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN – Jacquelyn Benjamin Jacquelyn Benjamin, Moderator, has been elected to be Moderator of Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Pacific. She noted the activities of PW in the Presbytery and upcoming Gathering dates. SHARING OF CELEBRATIONS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

• First United (Nampa) held an Elder/Deacon training, which included a few other congregations

besides their own. They hope to repeat sometime in 2018.

• Ada Richie (First, Boise) reported that congregation is inviting an International Peacemaker who

will come sometime in the fall. She invited two or three congregations to invite the Peacemaker

since they like to visit three or four places in the same area. Presbytery voted to approve the

process as Boise First lined out.

• Karen Francis handed out flyers of information and interest for the St. Luke’s Institute for

Pastoral Care focusing on hospital visitation to be held on October 27, 207 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30

p.m.

• John Matthews will celebrate his 90th birthday on June 7.

• Marci Glass will be on Sabbatical from July 1 through September 30. Call the church office
