SWAP FOR SQUASH

FALL BEER BUZZOktoberfest & other fall beers at local breweries

WALT & WHITMAN | 20 Lake Ave., Saratoga SpringsWhitman Brewing Oktoberfest - Classic, traditional Oktoberfest/Märzen style beer (Bavarian lager), clean dry malt forward flavor, light amber color; available in house & on draft.

Pastry Stout - NEW one off project which may only be offered once, dropping mid-to-late fall.

Return of Now Forger Series - One of the brewery’s most popular beer lines, featuring a rotating fruitage sour. W&W constantly plays with fruit combinations in this series, using hundreds of pounds of fresh fruit.

*Dec. 19th: Brewery-hosted 1 year anniversary party with special beer offerings & releases TBA. Follow them on Facebook & Instagram for details.

ARTISANAL BREW WORKS 41 Geyser Rd., Saratoga SpringsTouch O’Crunch Spiced Red Ale - A lightly spiced red ale brewed with natural nutmeg, clove, and everyone’s favorite cinnamon square cereal. It’s sweet, spicy, and balanced with a malt backbone that offers notes of chocolate. 7.4% ABV.

COMMON ROOTS | 58 Saratoga Ave., South Glens FallsCoffee Cup - A double coffee stout made with local cold brew coffee from Kru Coffee + chocolate & caramel flavors

Fritzi - Common Roots’ Märzen-style Lager, which is the traditional Oktoberfest offering in the Bavaria-region of Germany. Named for the matriarch of the Weber Family, Elfriede “Fritzi” Weber, Fritzi is our interpretation of the Oktoberfest-style Lager and is meant to be enjoyed with friends and family to mark the change of the season and as a reminder that beer tastes better when enjoyed with loved ones. Fritzi pours a beautiful, golden-amber hue with notes of fresh bread and caramel, balanced by a subtle hop spice. This perfect accompaniment for Fall will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz cans from the Taproom at 58 Saratoga Avenue and through our distribution partners in the area beginning in late September.

DRUTHERS BREWING CO. | 381 Broadway, Saratoga Oatmeal Stout - Rich, malty ale with flavors reminiscent of cocoa and coffee. Oats add fullness to the body. 5.6% ABV

Oktoberfest - Traditional German-style lager rich with malt flavor and just enough hops to balance. 6.8% ABV.

DIY OUTDOOR MOVIE THEATERTip from Jane Mehan, Associate Real Estate Broker

“I bought a projector on Amazon and hung a white sheet on the side of the barn in the yard. We did individual bags of popcorn and treats, and of course a little wine, lit some tiki torches and...poof! Instant outdoor movie theater. It was a good way to see some friends and be able to socially distance. We just streamed from my laptop and used my Beats Pill for the speaker. We watched a bunch of fun movies: Knives Out, King of Staten Island, Bombshell. With summer over and early mornings back, we decided to do a series instead of movies next. We started The Haunting of Hill House last night outside and BBQ’d. A fun thing to do with my adult kids.”

CREATE YOUR OWN CARNIVALTip from Meg Minehan, Associate Real Estate Broker

“Since there are no fairs or carnivals this year, my sister came up with an idea of having a backyard carnival. We printed money, tickets and signs for games. The kids won tickets and traded them for carefully curated prizes from the $1 and $3 sections at Target. We did squirt gun games with ping pong balls, penny pitching, bean bag toss, crashing cups, bowling and more. The kids - aged 11, 8, and 5 - went at it hard for over two hours. They loved it and keep asking when we can do it again! If you have older kids, you can let them help run the games. We also had the ice cream truck come by, just like a fair attraction!” Find ideas for more carnival games at CarnivalSavers.com

Congratulations Emily and Jacob!

“We had a great experience working with Palma Pedrick and the Roohan Realty team. Palma was incredibly helpful guiding us through many homes until we finally found the perfect place for us. As younger buyers, we wanted to find a home that was walkable to town, had character and charm, and a space that we felt we could put down roots and build memories. We started our house hunting process this winter, and then, the COVID-19 Pandemic hit. Inevitably, this threw a few wrenches in the search process. However, the Roohan team encouraged us to stay patient and we’re so happy they did. We love the home we chose! We plan on staying here for a while, but if we do choose to move again, we’ll absolutely work with Roohan. They were there for us every step of the way.”
