FROM EDITOR IN CHIEF’S DESK
Come November, and the world has been greeted with many events that we wait for the whole year!!
We greet the month with Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Formation Day; literally "Birth of
the Karnataka state o 1 No e e of e e ea . This as the da i 19 he all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka.
Rajyotsava day is celebrated with great joy and vigour all over the state of Karnataka. The entire state
wears a festive look on this day as the red and yellow Kannada flags are hoisted at different strategic
locations across the state and the Kannada anthem ("Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Tanujate") is chanted.
The state government asserts Rajyotsava awards on this day, which are awarded to people responsible
for great contributions in the development of Karnataka. The Chief Minister of the State inaugurates the
cultural show which is normally held at Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore. Awards are presented to
students who have won medals in various national games.
Then comes Diwali which is the greatest Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year in November. The
festival with holidays filled with fun and joy and special home made foods. One of the major festivals of
Hinduism, it spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over
ignorance, and hope over despair. In this way slowly we approach towards the end of the semester,
preparing for exams, days filled with only work and no joy. Amidst all seriousness Christmas slips away
quietly with smell of new cakes and biscuits in the atmosphere. Students show the utmost seriousness
to study and give their best efforts to excel in Exams. Before the exams end new year knocks at the door.
We ealise ho ti e flies…….O e uestio k o ks the i d— Had e do e e ough to a hie e ou goal? …….Sta Blessed! Wo k o ou goals !

Creativity Unfolds…
being a teacher.. Am I be in accord?? Neither I fit as a quality teacher nor am I in a voyage of constant evolution of
being so. My fancy illusion of being a writer or film making are part of second thought but sure as I
reckon my quite short experience of teaching, I am intrigued by single most quest: will I be ever
revered or rewarded for my choice of profession? I am absolutely sure, none would appreciate it!
my students look at me as a clown or bore who has made up the career option for not having courage
to be a part of market orientalism; my close aids think that my idealism has halted me here; my
relatives think that I failed to grab a wealthy package in the metros to suffice the bourgeoning
desire of being a rich. Well my natives think, ‘here he comes to enjoy as a lazy bone which he was in
the first place.’ Many more taglines and remarks made on my profession and me! ah actually is this
not how teaching profession is spelt around? In the dining conversation people make fun of us ‘oh
come on!! I know how stupid is your job, every one hour you go for tea and two hours of job, then what else you are
ea t to work, co plete idle is ’t it?’ I smirk and wash away feelings ridiculed. Crazy gestures of
students (both male and female) whispering in shadowed mouth ‘look at this crazy who speaks on
sustainable development and puffs cigarettes all the while’ and other puts ‘does he in anyway resemble as a
teacher!! look at hi he displays as if he is a tee ager’ . In all these I take a heavy breath and look at t-
shirt I wore, which has a Gandhi cartoon, below it is written in a fancy font style ‘peace out bro!’
ANAVARANA VOL.1 ISSUE 5
10 years down the line in my profession what I think I would be able to successfully motivate more
students to join major industrial workplace, promoting their start-ups, many more to evolve as care
takers of environment as well as society, who would transform the world into to better place to live
in, without harming nature, helping world to cope with all its geopolitical disparities, having tackled
most loopholes of humanistic greediness, virtually bringing down everything that causes unjust and
things that I despise from my narrow world view of idealism.
But is the teacher-mentor in me will be able to walk through a rosy path?
What actually happens: my better half may be screaming to lungs and liver for not making enough
income to pay the bills, my children would curse for being my off-springs, I might look at my
friends’ majestic earnings and envying on ex’s lifestyle and regretting my past, my parents would
feel pity on my low income and boost me to have a random (x-ray) business to suffice my worldly
desires.’
When I turned up to this profession I had a desire to be explorative, proactive in steaming and
channeling my ideas and learning and learning till I halt my breath, reading and reading to know the
planet till my eyes would lose vision. Those ideas and aspiration are getting tapered and suppressed
by the cynicism around me. I had to elevate myself from the world around me and see the rest of
the world in history, in epics, in cinemas and in articles. I read stalwarts making greater difference
in amending the world like Basavan, I unearth Vasistha’s excellence in moulding Rama to be an ideal
ruler. I saw Homer, a coal miner’s son becoming a NASA scientist by a science teacher’s admiration.
I heard many teachers selflessly working in the Mumbai slums to educate the impoverished
children. I feel inspired, filled in responsibility to put the coming generation in right track. All the
while I wake up, its 9.00 am in the morning, my first class of this semester and I realize that I have
to differentiate between open channel and pipe flow.

know-how..
Education is a relentless voyage of discovery ....
A similar voyage started in my life after joining BLDEA S V.P D .P.G.Halkatti College of
engineering and technology. I had an awesome experience throughout my 1st
sem BE. I felt
satisfied with the quality education I got here. The teaching was done to nurture the innovative
thinking capabilities of each and every engineering student irrespective of their background.
E e aki g good f ie ds i le pla ed a i po ta t ole fo e, hi h helped e i studies and my experiences about what really engineering is all about and how engineering
science plays the most important roles in building an easy world.
Afte all... good work like good talk or any other worthwhile human relationship depends upon
being able to assume an extended shared world .....
It s ot like e e thi g e t good fo e. The e e e fe diffi ulties I fa ed but my teachers,
parents, friends made me to realize that every difficulty is a step towards an easy success, and
made me to aim correctly towards my goals. Well honestly speaking, it may sound funny to tell
I was among those students who were late in submitting assignments, but still I learned
something from it- the a t of TIME MANAGEMENT , the o e late I as the o e I as fo ed to a age ti e he e lea t to a age ti e effi ie tl ….
Teachers were always ready to solve doubts regarding studies even during their leisure time in
college, so as to develop practically creative engineers apart from the theoretical studies and to
get us understand clearly. They even used many examples beyond syllabus and even library
provided many facilities. When it ca e to e a s all I did as to hope for the best but, be
prepared for the worst ...
And I am grateful to everyone who helped me through my 1stse BE e ause respect is not
e ui ale t to liki g a stude t/tea he , it is the a ility to ha e a high ega d for the role of
a othe a d i o de to e ei e espe t , e should de o st ate it fi st”....-Zahid.I.Jamkhandi.
