FROM EDITOR IN CHIEF’S DESK

For the majority of college and university students, involvement in extracurricular activities is key to their

personality development. Students become involved in extracurricular activities not only for entertainment

purposes, but to gain and improve different skills. It may be sports, music, dance, and painting, organizing events,

eloquence or poetry writing skills. Getting involved in clubs, sports, work or other pursuits outside the classroom

can give students new skills, help them learn about self and at the same time it can be fun. Accomplishments

outside the classroom show what the students are passionate about and the college has to recognize that to

develop the “whole student”. Extracurricular activities provide a platform to become involved and to interact with

other students, thus leading to increased learning and enhanced development. By working together with other

individuals, students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflict and lead others. Involvement in activities

helps students mature socially by providing a setting for student interaction, relationship formation, and

discussion. Our college also provides students with umpteen opportunities to show case their talents. We have a

cultural team which interacts with other college students during Youth Festival of VTU and whenever possible

team members interact with eminent achievers in the field of art and music. We celebrate Annual cultural day in

our college premises after a complete week of organizing competitions. This celebration also marks a semester

end and exam time.

Achievements of students from various departments

DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE

Tejas Kore a final year student won first prize in JK Architect Year Award, for Best

Architecture students of the year. Event was conducted by JK Cement Company.

Tejas Kore a final year student ranked in top ten among four states students competition

conducted by NIASA, Pune for excellence in Architecture Thesis 2015 hosted by Excel school

of Architecture, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu.

Students’ speak

The Golden Years

The day started out with the morning dew, tiny droplets raining all over.

Rushing all alone towards the college in search of the classroom new to the

historical city of Vijayapur was confused all over rushing towards the

classroom. I was in a dilemma for the first hour without friends whether the

choice of the engineering branch was right or wrong. Suddenly after the first

hour I realized that I was in the wrong division. There after I found the A division and then the second

hour started.

In first year the foundation of the basic sciences, core engineering subjects, the essence of the ethics

and environment was really interesting and made me understand that knowing civil engineering only

will not help me survive in the community. After entering into my branch, I met efficient professors of

civil engineering who provided the knowledge to built strong base of the civil engineering structure.

They used to motivate the students and inspire them.

I had unforgettable memories during these four years. I still remember those interesting lectures, those

lunch in the canteen, the bunking of the classes, the volunteering in the college fests, those sleepless

nights during exams, the eye captivating workshops and lab demonstrations, those arguments with

the friends, those circulation of notes during the Internals, the mesmerizing participation at the events

of other colleges, frustrating assignments, happiness during the suspension of classes, the last moment

journal completion, suggestions of the seniors, the fresher’s and farewell party.

At last I would like to thank the college for making me what I am today. The memories will last

forever, never will it die, the engineering family will always be a part of me and stay together and will

never say goodbye.
