IN THE SPOTLIGHT
First staged in Liverpool then London in the early 80s, on the face of it Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers is
one of the more unlikely musicals to become an all-time audience favourite. By the time the show
closed in November 2012 it had clocked up more than 10,000 performances and was the third
longest run in the West End (just behind Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera and ahead
of Cats). The story of the separated twins is both moving, hilarious and gripping and the three-week
season at the Earl Arts Centre is a rare opportunity for audiences to witness this musical theatre
masterpiece with a thrilling cast in an intimate setting where it becomes even more powerful.

IN THE HEIGHTS Launceston College is thrilled to be presenting In the Heights, an exciting musical written by Lin – Manuel Miranda,
who also wrote the smash hit musical Hamilton. The story explores three days in the lives of a New York City Latino
neighbourhood. The score features hip-hop, salsa, merengue and soul music.
Set in New York City’s Washington Heights—a place where the coffee from the bodega is light and sweet, the
windows are always open, and the streets explode with the songs and rhythms of three generations, In The Heights
explores a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams, and pressures, where the biggest struggles
can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the
ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a
respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough,
Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do
something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change
for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his
parents. Directed by Danny Gibson & presented by Stage Right Youth Theatre is it definitely going to a creepy &
kooky night at the theatre!
