Pickard r e c e i v e d t h e a w a r d for o u t s t a n d i n g s e r v i c e a s a medical surgical nurse at the 12th Evacuation Hospital near Cu Chi. She entered the Army Nurse Corps in August, 1965, and w a s s t a t i o n e d at the Wi l l iam B e a u m o n t G e n e r a l Hospital, El Paso, Tex., before arriving overseas last March. She is a 1962 graduate of Sweet Home High School and received an R.N. diploma in 1966 from the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing.

Pistol Class Is Scheduled In Tonawanda The Tonawanda Police De­

partment will sponsor a three-part Civilian Pistol Training Class beg inning at 7 p .m. Wednesday, Chief Oldenburg an­nounced today.

Subsequent classes will be conducted on the following Wednesdays at the same t ime.

The c lasses are designed for persons who have a p i s to l permit or who are planning to obtain one, the chief said The final class will include actual firing on the pistol range in the basement of headquarters.

Instructors from the National Rifle Association will teach the course.
