T/te Obituary

Leroy Samuei ßLdams

“‘Rooster

Leroy was born in Hopkins, South Carolina on February 12, 1940. One of twelve children, he was the son of the late John and Rebecca Dinkins Adams. On Sunday, July 10, 2005, Leroy entered into eternal rest.

Leroy was educated in the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Hopkins High School. He furthered his education at Midland Technical College. At an early age he received Christ as his Savior and was baptized. He was an active member of Zion Benevolent Baptist Church. Leroy was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed with Westinghouse NFD for thirty-four years prior to his retirement in 2003. Leroy worked diligently with the Hopkins Alumni Association.

“Rooster”, as he was affectionately called by his family and many friends, was a true neighbor to all and personified the phrase, “My Brothers Keeper”. He would never allow any situation to get him down. He would simply make a muscle and state, “ This is Rooster”, with that and a secret prayer (Faith), he would rise to the occasion.

Leroy was preceded in death by two children, Alesha Anita, and Sheila Maria; brothers, Harry Adams and Moses Adams; sisters, Flossie Harris, Florence Faust, Jessie Walker and Francenia Weston.

Leroy leaves joy in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known him. Those who live to cherish his memories are his wife, Gloria Bogan Adams; daughters, Marcia Adams, Eastover, South Carolina, Cheryl English, Hopkins, South Carolina; sons, Derrick (Sara) English, Hopkins, South Carolina, Ronald Wilson, Binghampton, New York, Cortez (Nichole) Stokes, Gadsden, South Carolina; brother, John C. J*m &>tee Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free

I am following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when 1 heard His call

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way Ifound the peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life has been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one ’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.

Don’t lengthen it now with undo grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee-

God wanted me now; HE SET ME FREE!
