• The On-Board Design Team of the Aviation Rule-making Advisory Committee (ARAC) Fuel Tank Inerting Harmonization Working Group (FTIHWG) investigated inerting systems carried on the aircraft that operate in-flight
• Other teams evaluated Ground Based Inerting (GBI) systems
• Concepts included On-Board Inert Gas Generating Systems (OBIGGS) that offered full-time inerting and smaller ‘hybrid’ OBIGGS that provided flammability reduction at significantly lower cost
