From the President Greetings Fellow LIR Members,

LIR finds itself, along with the rest of the world, in an unimaginable position. “Social distancing” and the wearing of masks have become the “new normal.” Once everyday occurrences – a trip to the grocery store, meeting friends for coffee – must be weighed carefully before proceeding.

Your health and safety remain our top priority.

Due to the challenges of safe physical distancing under these pandemic circumstances, all fall 2020 programs will be offered virtually. Many speakers, old favorites and new, have agreed to present and are listed in this catalog.

The Steering Committee has explored many virtual platforms and decided the best option for LIR is Microsoft Teams. This program is easy to log onto, does not require a download on your computer and offers closed captioning, if needed.

The course offerings for the Fall semester are the same quality programming you have come to expect. The courses include favorite topics such as history, current events and politics plus new topics to keep us learning. This approach will keep us in touch and learning until we can safely return to live presentations and face-to-face camaraderie.

We will be offering sessions to help you learn about the software prior to the presentations so you will have a comfort level as to how it works and can log into presentations easily.

Looking forward to seeing you in a virtual presentation!

Sincerely, Jim Krueger LIR President
