Importance of sociocultural approach1. Creating an environment in which pupils behave appropriately, not out of fear of punishment or desire for reward, but out of a sense of personal responsibility.

2. Vygotsky is relevant to instructional concepts such as "scaffolding" in which a teacher or more advanced peer helps to structure or arrange a task so that a novice can work on it successfully.

3. Learners should be provided with socially rich environments to promote social interaction among the pupils.

ICTs can be used to support the learning environment by providing tools for discourse, discussions, collaborative writing, and problem-solving.

4. Emphasizes the importance of social and collaborative aspects of learning. Ellis (2000) claims that sociocultural theory focuses on how the learner accomplishes a task and how the interaction between learners can scaffold and assist in the L2 acquisition process.
