Higher education reform framework in Kyrgyzstan

Higher education system in Kyrgyzstan

• 51 HEIs

• 31 Public HEIs (92% students) • 20 private HEIs (8% students) • Students: 230,000 students • Teaching staff: 16,429 people

Participation of Kyrgyzstan in Tempus

• Since 1995 • 45 projects funded and implemented • 23 HEIs out of 51 participated (almost 50%)

• Development and approbation internal quality assurance models (EFQM, ISO 9000);

• Development of criteria and proceedings on external assessment compatible with ENQA standards;

• Establishment of first independent accreditation systems;

• Establishment of network on accreditation on regional level;

• External assessment and accreditation of Kyrgyz universities by European accreditation agencies.
