THANK YOU to the hundreds of IHM households who made pledges to the
2016 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal over the last weeks! For those who were not at
Mass here last weekend, there will be another opportunity to pledge today.
YOUR GIFT TO THE ANNUAL APPEAL suppor ts the training of our future
priests, the care of our elderly and infirm priests, religious education for young and
old alike, young adult and campus ministries throughout the archdiocese and out-
reach and evangelization efforts. It also assists the work of Catholic Charities Atlan-
ta in serving thousands of people in every imaginable need. See the Annual Appeal
brochure in the literature rack for more information.
100% OF THE FUNDS received over our par ish goal will return to us here at
IHM without any assessment from the Archdiocese. That means that every dollar
given to the AAA is worth about $1.30 in money contributed to the Sunday offerto-
ry! Your gift helps the Archdiocese and our parish!
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET made your pledge to the 2016 AAA, please do so
soon. To make your pledge online, simply go to http://appeal.archatl.com. Please
be sure to choose IHM as your designated parish!

40 DAYS FOR LIFE February 10-March 20
If you knew you could help save a life, would you? From February 10 through
March 20, you’re invited to join thousands of other Christians for “40 Days for
Life” – 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You’re also invited
to stand and peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil in the public right-of-way
across from Feminist Women's Health Center on Cliff Valley Way. In Atlanta,
just 112 people are needed to take one hour a week during the 40 days to get all
16 hours of the local public vigil covered (6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. each day). For
more information, please see www.40daysforlife.com/Atlanta or contact
Margarita Szechenyi at 678-200-9712 or [email protected].

Classification State Prison in Jackson. The return trip will leave Jackson at 8:00
p.m. and arrive at the Chancery by 9:30 p.m. We are currently working on
having an additional stop in Downtown Atlanta.
The prayer vigil is held on the grounds outside the prison. Please check the
weather reports for that day and dress appropriately. To register for the bus,

First Communion Parent Meeting: February 16
Mark your calendars! A meeting for parents of First Communion candidates, including IHM School students, will take place at 7:00 on February 16, in the church. At least one parent of each student should plan to attend. For GIFT students, preparation sessions for First Communion will take place on March 1, March 15, and March 29, 6:30-8:00 pm. The Rehearsal and Day of Reflection will be on April 16, 9:00-12:30. Further details will be provided at the parent meeting. Children will receive their first Holy Communion at regular Mass times on the weekend of April 30-May 1.
January is the month of resolutions—and, all too often, broken resolutions. Did you resolve to deepen your faith or strengthen your knowledge of God’s Word this year? Looking for a way to deepen your spiritual life during Lent? Last week’s bulletin included a booklet of upcoming opportunities for Adult Faith Formation. If you missed it, copies are still available in the narthex. Please be sure to take one and consider how you might answer Pope Francis’ call to “a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ.”
Next Sunday, February 14, thousands of aspiring Catholics from around North Georgia will gather at Cobb Galleria Center to be recognized by Archbishop Wilton Gregory. This event, known as the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, begins their final stage of preparation for the Easter sacraments. By God’s grace, our community will send over seventy people to receive the Archbishop’s blessing next week. Because we want them to go forth with our prayers and support, we will celebrate a Rite of Sending this Sunday at 1:30 Mass and next Sunday at 11:30. We will ask our catechumens—those preparing for baptism—to come forward and write their names in the Book of the Elect, indicating that Christ has called them by name to live as his disciples. We will also recognize our baptized candidates, those seeking full communion with the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Please remember all catechumens and candidates in your Lenten prayers. May God bring to completion the good work he has begun in them—and in each of us.
IHM SCHOOL ALUMNI & PARENTS OF ALUMNI MASS & RECEPTION

This year, Parent of Alumni Bob Zimmer will receive
the IHM School Alumni Association’s Annual Distinguished
Service Award. Please join us in honoring Bob for his many
contributions to the IHM community.
We hope to see you there!
To RSVP, please contact Thérèse Garrett at
[email protected] or 404/636-4488.
“Live your faith during Lent,
perform works of mercy.”
Pope Francis
We celebrate the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, February 10 and here are some
cool resources you can use to pray, fast, learn and give back!
The season of Lent is a special one in which it prepares us for Christ's Resurrection
on Easter Sunday. There are numerous ways to prepare, so please enjoy and feel free to share with your friends!
We narrowed it down to some of the best free apps available:
- CRS Rice Bowl (by Catholic Relief Resources)
- Laudate (daily readings, saint of the day, rosary and chaplet, stations of the cross and much more...)
- 40 Day Spiritual Workout (Take the challenge and get holy with a spiritual workout!)
- Ending Your Day Right (a daily reflection for the whole year)
- Lentsanity (by FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students)
Lent at IHM: you can view the 2016 Lent Schedule online or in the bulletin for the dates and times for the Stations of the
Cross and Fish Fry on Friday evenings.
Visit www.crsricebowl.org for great videos, food recipes, stories and more.
Lenten Calendars are the best, but how about making your own Lenten Calendar this year? See what kind of things you can
give up for 40 days, what you can do to give back, and most importantly how can you deepen your relationship with God and
share that with others?

historia: 40 DIAS POR LA VIDA.
bienvenidos!
