AIESEC IN SOUTHERN CONE

In 2005, AIESEC in Argentina, Chile and

Uruguay joined together to create AIESEC

Southern Cone; the only Member Committee

in the global network composed of three

countries.

Since then the region grew continuously and

is growing exponentially in exchange

opportunities ever since 2010.

These three countries offer a cultural

experience that is different from all other

countries in Latin America. A South American

essence that blends with a strong European

orientation, strong economy and a society

striving towards the future.

It is the second largest country in South America and eighth in the world by land area and the

largest among Spanish-speaking nations. Argentina is subject to a variety of climates. The north of the country, including latitudes in and below the Tropic of Capricorn, is characterized by very hot, humid summers with mild drier winters, and is subject to periodic droughts. Central Argentina

has hot summers with thunder storms (in western Argentina producing some of the world's largest hail), and cool winters. The southern regions have warm summers and cold winters with heavy

snow fall, especially in mountainous zones. Higher elevations at all latitudes experience cooler conditions.

It is a country in South America occupying along, narrow coastal strip between the Andes mountains

to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The climate of Chile comprises a wide range of weather conditions across a large geographic scale, extending across 38 degrees in latitude, making generalizations difficult. According to the Köppen system, Chile within its borders hosts at least seven

major climatic subtypes, ranging from desert in the north, to alpine tundra and glaciers in the east and south east, humid subtropical in Easter Island, Oceanic in the south and Mediterranean climate in

central Chile. There are four seasons in most of the country: summer (December to February), autumn (March to May), winter (June to August), and spring (September to November).

It is home to some 3.5 million people, of whom 1.8 million live in the

capital Montevideo and its metropolitan area. An estimated 88% of the population are of European descent. Uruguay's climate is relatively mild. Located entirely within the temperate zone Uruguay

has a climate that is fairly uniform nation wide. Seasonal variations are pronounced, but extremes in temperature are rare. Uruguay has

a largely uniform temperature throughout the year, summer being tempered by winds off the Atlantic, and severe cold in winter is unknown. The heaviest precipitation occurs during the autumn

months, although more frequent rainy spells occur in winter.

LEAD TALKS: TESTIMONIES FROM SOME OF OUR PREVIOUS TRAINEES

‘With all my heart I say that is one of the

greatest experiences I've had throughout

my life. Knowing that I have become for

many the desire for what would be

a mother is certainly something I will

never forget, I know that I have won with

love, affection, love, time, dedication,

effort is certainly something that makes

me I could feel many things, I won as a

person and somehow I've helped them

too. The achievement has been mutual.’

TRAINEE IN HOGAR DON BOSCO TRAINEE IN FECAMI TRAINEE IN HOGAR ANGEL AZUL

‘The work environment at Fecami was

the best, the staff was always available

to listen and defined the objectives of the

internship, which was to develop strategic

management tools to assess the current

status of the organization to meet

the institutional goals of a particular

period of time. We designed a new

strategic plan of the

Organization, Redesign of Corporate

Image, management and implementation

of management tools. 100% Satisfied.’

‘I went to La Plata to work

in raising funds to carry on a work at

Hogar Angel Azul. I had to find people to

do the work and get

the missing materials. It was an real work

experience as I previously was always

working for companies and I wanted to

learn to generate results without having a

boss over and above , it was a lifetime

experience. I had the opportunity to

meet wonderful people and work in an

environment in which people supported

me.’
