Under Illinois state law, qualified Veterans are entitled to points added to passing grades.

• Established Veteran Status is REQUIRED in order to be eligible.

• To receive Veteran preference, separation from active duty must have been under honorable conditions and one of the following conditions must be met:

• Served a total of at least six months in federal service.• Released from active duty because of a service-connected disability• Discharged based on hardship• Service for the duration of hostilities regardless of the length of engagement.

If the job is filled internally no action will be taken on your application but please continue to apply to future postings.

If the job is not filled internally your application will be reviewed by Central Management Services.

If your title requires an automated test you will be contacted by one of the testing centers to arrange date and time for testing.

If the title does not require and automated test and you submitted a CMS100 Employment Application, you will receive a grade notice in the mail.

Once you have an established grade from Central Management your name will be placed on the list of eligible candidates. The list will be sent to the state agency Human Resources. Priority will be given to highest grade candidates starting with “A” grades. If there is a large pool of candidates, individuals will be selected randomly from the list.
