MODULE 1: IDEATION. - NATURAL PATTERN

My Pattern: The close up of the strawberry, highlighting its ‘criss-cross’ pattern in sections, following a natural diagonal flow.

Recipe: Follow the lining of the seeds in the diagonal wave, going across the page. Do the same thing from left to right as from right to left – forming a criss cross pattern. Connect the lines forming diamonds across the page.

ANALYITICAL DRAWINGS PROCESS:

ANALYITICAL DRAWINGS PROCESS (Continued):

This is the first drawing, breaking down the natu-ral pattern of the strabwerry, highlighting the criss cross sections, connected to the dots (seeds)

This is the second part, drawing horrizontal lines from the dots to form triangular patterns, form-ing a cohesive pattern

Following on from the drawing before, this is the simplified version - simply the one line of pattern- that of the traingles connect together through the dots.

Connecting the triangles together, the pattern - to form a large triangle, developing into ideas of the model. The dark and light shading give another effect

DEVELOPING THE MODEL: (3D IDEAS)

DEVELOPING THE MODEL: INITIAL IDEAS

The pattern broken down, the indibidu-als triangles are scaled into different sizes,

The formation of a potential model, using the triangles to form together a pyramid/diamond shape, joining the edges and forming the eventual base. Following on from the week 2 workshop, using

the pattern to form a 2 dimensional shape - pho-tographed on cutting board

The blueprint of the 2 dimensional design - with-out the different shades /colours.

Page 4: Ideation

The first attempt at the model - Using folds, the triangle shape extruded from the pattern - I came up with this model.

The computerised image of the attempt, remov-ing the initial idea of the diamond base - leaving a square base (formed of 2 triangles)

This the model followed on from the workshop - the triangle patterns highlight the use of the pattern to form the pyramid - view from front on- perspective

View from the base - also perspectiveto be hold from point, perhaps a handle

MAKING THE MODEL: (3D)

DEVELOPING THE MODEL: (FURTHER)

Page 5: Ideation

Picture one is a perspective shot - showing the de construction of how the model will be made - The 3D element shows the depth of the construction.I chose to face the model up from the point for ease of use - and for lighting effects - (asthetics)

Picture two shows a birds eye view - highlighting the use of triangles to form the design - not only on the base, but throughout the model

RHINO SCREENSHOTS:

EFFECTS OF THE POTENTIAL LATTERN:

The effects / lighting effects of the lattern has the potential to produce triangle shaped shadows in the 360 degree view - The chosen picture is just an example of what the shapes would form - playing on the use of light and dark. The idea is that the light from within the lattern - or even external light would be able to cast the shadow.

The Louvre Pyramid (Pyramide du Louvre) is a large glass and metal pyramid, surrounded by three smaller pyramids, in the main court-yard of the Louvre Palace in Paris. The large pyramid serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum. Completed in 1989 it has become a landmark of the city of Paris.

Similar traits in terms of its structure from triangles, - obviously on a bigger scale than my design. The combination of triangles joined at their points to make the pyramid structure is the basis of the design.
