Wolfpack Champs!Girls Cross Country

The defining moment for us was winning the 2009 Women’s Cross Country SENE Championship!!!! You wanna talk about pride, we worked hard this year and it showed. Our MVP was Simi DeAngelis—she never stopped and never complained—and our MIP was captain

Lisamarie Bertschy. She and co-captain Haruka Koda always came through for us with spirit and energy. Our greatest challenge was without a doubt practicing with the Boys Cross Country team! Thank you to coaches Michaels and Forgue for always believing. You made us believe in ourselves. We love you.

Going the DistanceBoys Cross Country

Running New Englands in the pouring rain and literally sliding down a hill and then getting up to run and slide down another hill—that was an experience we will never forget! Captains Kevin Blanco (MVP) and Tim Hallenbeck kept up the energy and led this wolfpack

with dedication and spirit. Our MIP was Matt Wysocki —we love you Matt! Our greatest challenge was keeping motivated and on pace. Special thanks to Coach Welsh for being so “metal.” We really do appreciate all the work you did to help us move those feet!

Heart & SoulVarsity Football

O ur defining moment as a team was the game against KUA. We were way down but we stuck it out and we never gave up. We’ll never forget when Ryan Giebel threw that touchdown pass to Giovanni Capri and our sideline absolutely erupted. Our captains

were Ryan Delaney, Chuck Watson, Sean Campbell, and Justin Konda. Our MVP Chuck Watson would do anything that was required of him and was a leader offensively and defensively. And MIP Ryan Giebel started off the season not wanting to play, but then turned it around and became starting quarterback and really led on the field. Our greatest challenge was staying motivated and keep working towards our goals. One of our best moments—Ryan Delaney going up against a 380 pound lineman at Vermont Academy and holding his own. Thank you coaches Saucier, Fabiano, Jaye and Skopek for all their hard work and dedication. You guys rock! The 2009 Varsity

Team ApproachBoys Varsity Soccer

Adefining moment for our team was the spirit we showed in our second game against Williams. Our first game ended with a tie, but when we played them again we pulled together as a team and beat them 3-0. Who will ever forget our win against St.

Andrews—we were down the entire game and we would be down a goal, then tie it up and so on—until we finally scored a goal with just seconds remaining to win the game 4-3! Captain and MVP Jake Lifson led our team with his passion and love for the game of soccer. And MIP Hunter Carruthers could always be counted on, he never gave up. We had a ridiculous amount of injuries but all in all a good season and lots of good memories. Thank you to Coaches Folan and Rigney, you gave us 100% of your time and care and love, thank you so much!

Growing Season Boys JV Soccer

There was a point in the season when all of the players on our team started to finally come together and work really hard. That’s when it felt like a team...we began to trust each other and support our peers’ leadership. Best memory? In one of our last games of the season,

even though we did not win, as a team we hung in there and never gave up. I was proud of how far we had come from those early practice days filled with bickering. I saw a lot of great work individually and as a team—and I hope that that passion can come alive again next year. Thanks to Coaches Duethorn and Kelly—at the start of the season we slacked off, but you helped us deal with it and keep moving. We learned a lot about soccer and sportsmanship from you. All in all, it was a season with tremendous growth, and I’m glad to have been a part of it! —Adam Ben-Hanania ’11

The View Up HereRopes Team

Being on the Rope Course Team was a great experience. There’s something about getting up on the High Ropes that makes you feel fearless—like you just want to scream at the top of your lungs because you’re so high up but you know you’re safe! We learned

a lot about dealing with our fears and trusting that person on the other end of the belay rope. Best memory? Helping parents and students during their FLCs—who knew you could have fun guiding someone across a log 40 feet high? I’d like to thank Coaches Fredericks and Ms. PY for always being present with enthusiasm and zest. It was a great season! —Zach Rosenbaum

Guts & GloryBoys Varsity Basketball

Our last regular season game was an away game against SENE rival Providence Country Day School. We were the undefeated team, we were the number one team in our league, we had already beat them by about 20 points earlier in the season, and it was

their senior night. We started off the game struggling on both ends of the court, and coincidentally PCD seemed to be playing the game of their lives, hitting from all cylinders. As the game went on we came back from a 10-point deficit, pulled it together in the 2nd half and sent the game into two overtimes before we won! That game brought us together as a team right before the playoffs. Our greatest challenge? Putting the egos aside and being a real team. And we will never forget singing Craig’s Jewish songs—they became our team’s anthem—on the bus ride home after every win! Thank you Coaches Bragg and Kelly, your experience and dedication made us the team to beat!

Loving the GameBoys JV Basketball

O ur defining moment—the St. Thomas More game, when we were down by eleven, with two minutes to go and we went on a 12-0 run and won the game by 4 points! That showed the kind of team we were. Our greatest challenge: finishing the season on a

four-game win streak after losing three games in a row and ending the season three games above .500. And we will never forget Kubitz and McNeil trying to dunk everyday in practice, and Deinstag......for just being Deinstag! Snaps to MVP Noah Bell and MIP/Co-MVP Kyle Freitag for their awesome drive and will-to-win. Special thanks to team captain and MVP Kubitz for his leadership and just being a great guy.....and to Coaches Saucier and Warnick for showing us what it means to love the game!

To the MatVarsity Wrestling

We had a team of tough kids who refused to quit. With time on the mat, we grew as individuals and as a team. Wres-tling is a sport that challenges the quitting voice in all of our heads, and when our shoulders were nearing the mat, it

would have been much easier to give up and get some water and rest, rather than fight off your back and change the momentum of the match. This season we learned how wrestling is about so much more than technique and skill—it’s also about believing and putting your heart and soul into it. This season we know we can hang our shoes up and hold our heads high knowing we faced some tough challenges and never quit. Thank you so much to Coaches Jenkins and Jaye, your devotion to wrestling and to our best made us believe! Go Wolfpack!
