Exemplary achievements in society, at school, in vocational training and at work are too seldom appreciated. In particular the exceptional achieve-ments of young people should be honoured far more, as these are of fundamental importance for the functioning of our community. For this very reason, we at the headquar-ters in Büren have been supporting the action „The best of Büren“ for many a year.

At the award ceremony for this ac-tion this year, we experienced that being down-to-earth, having local ties and showing loyalty to a loca-tion should not be underestimated. With their outstanding commitment in various clubs and organisations, a large number of young people have contributed to keeping our town and region lively and attractive.

We, as the largest employer in the town Büren and environment, have a vested interest in qualified young people. Those who would like to be one of our team do, however, have to make an investment. I expect from all my employees that they fully com-mit themselves to the company. Oth-er than in earlier times, the demand nowadays is for work with a view to the solution of problems.

Fundamental skills such as reading, writing and calculating are essen-tial to be successful. And whoever wants to belong to the best has to perform with evident enthusiasm. The performance is then rewarded. And one important aspect should not be disregarded: Particularly for the case where theoretical knowledge is combined with practical skills, there is an abundance of opportunities which often even surmount a classi-cal academic qualification.

With friendly greetings from Büren,

Initial construciton phase: The alluvial filter for SKODA AUTO, a.s.

The alluvial filter system, which is to be installed in the crankshaft processing area, has a capacity of 4,600 l/min. and achieves a particu-larly fine filtration of nominal 5 µm. Apart from both the alluvial filters set up in the floor-mounted slump tray, there will also be a dirt collec-tor with scraper and magnetic sep-arator, a clean tank, a hinged belt filter for the secondary filtration as well as three filter and system pumps for each.

The vacuum filter installation is then to follow in the area of cylinder head

processing area. This installation has a capacity of 12,000 l/min and achieves a filter fineness of 30 to 100 µm. There will also be a floor-mount-ed sump tray with the filter installa-tion, a chip pre-separator and a mini vacuum filter for bath maintenance.

Filtration in two construction stages by mid 2013 BMF-Cooling lubricant systems Alluvial filter and vacuum filter installations with piping for SKODA AUTO, a.s.

The BMF is currently realizing an extensive project at SKODA AUTO, a.s., in two construction stages. Firstly an alluvial filter installation in autumn 2012 and following that a vacuum filter installation by mid 2013. The BMF will be supplying the complete piping in the case of both projects.

The BMF remains an essential supplier for the „Best factory of the year“ in the field of cooling lubricant technolo-gy. The company supplied the Volkswagen Engine Works Chemnitz, which was named by the trade journal „Pro-duction“ and the management consulters A.T. Kearney as the best production site, with a further filter installation for the complete supply and waste disposal of the honing department.

The honing filter installation Alu ZKG boasts an efficiency of 1,000 l/min emulsion and achieves a filter fineness of approximately 15 µm. Apart from the central vacuum fil-ter for the return transport of the contaminated emulsion, it includes a down-line backwash, a clean tank of 2 m³, a mini vacuum filter and a sep-arator for bath maintenance as well as a return pump station to the most important parts of the installation. The construction and installation of this honing system was a excellent opportunity for the BMF to demon-

strate its efficiency in the field of coolant lubricants and to consoli-

date the business relation with the engine works.

Successful installation: The current honing system at the

engine works in Chemnitz.

The extraction stations and convey-ors were delivered completely pre-assembled to the machines. The extraction pipe connections led lat-erally flat out of the suction sluice and were connected to the vacuum extraction installation on site per assembly fittings. The free-flowing short aluminium chippings are

auto ma ti- c allyseized from the chip conveyor with the aid of a feed screw (chip volume up to approximately 5 kg/h)and fed in-to the centralised extraction sys-tem.

The vacuum chip technology is an interesting alternative for many projects as opposed to the classical removal and processing of the cooling lubricant. The BMF supplied an extensive chip extraction system to the automobile supplier MAG-IAS for ten machine tools. Apart from the extraction stations, the contract also consisted of relevant chip conveyors from the company’s own modular system.

As market leader in the technologi-cal association for zinc, magnesium and aluminium die casting with dec-orative surfaces, the HDO provides an expert impetus for innovative and viable solutions. The company, which is down-to-earth but with an international standing, has a similar Westphalian mentality as the BMF and over 50 years of experience. Both companies are belong to the most important employers in the re-gion.

One of the success factors of the col-laboration is the close coordination of the design and development de-partments of both companies. The cooperation ranges from the idea through the choice of materials, the design suitable for the plastic ma-terial to the building of prototypes for material testing. The joint work-shops, which take place on a regular basis, serve to optimise the design and implementation of the prod-ucts.

Pole Position BMF-Technology Hook-on systems of the middle class

Up until now, the BMF was predominantly known as supplier of belt filter installations and large centralized filtration systems. The company has now extended its scope of supply to include cooling lubricant installations of the middle-class which, due to the hook-on system, offers unlimited mobility.

Compact design, modular construc-tion, scaled concept – this triad char-acterizes these installation and the BMF sees itself in the pole position on the market. The renowned ad-vantages of the company, such as maximal performance and the short-est of delivery times, naturally also apply for these installations.

The tank volume of these mid-dle-class installations ranges from 2000 to 8000 l and is therefore suit-able for small and middle-sized pro-duction cells. The modular construc-tion covers the standard compo-nents such as pumps, cooling and a filtration with a capacity of approxi-mately 350 to 2000 l/min.New middle class: Hook-on installations with tank sizes from 2,000 to 8,000 l.

The performance range of the plastic processing within the BMF far ex-ceeds just the injection moulding. The partnership with the company HDO in Paderborn is an excellent example of a close cooperation which begins as from the development of products.

Far-reaching cooperation: The BMF employees Anne Hülskötter (Sales, 3rd from the right) and Dieter Finke (Development/Technology, on the right) with the competent persons from HDO (from the left), namely Dr Heinz Herberhold (Head of Project Management), Business Engineer Alexander Gossing (Innovation Management), Dieter Stollburges (Development) and Andreas Öffler (Development).

Very few companies can claim such statistics! The BMF has been able – within just this theird quarter 2012 – to congratulate 14 members of staff who together celebrate 325 years of loyalty to the company. Numerous members completed their vocational training at the BMF and now form key pillars of the team.
