The Human Body The human body is amazing! You can feel, think, hear, see, eat, jump, breathe and so many other things. Though every body has the same parts, no bodies are really them same. Some people are short and others are tall and our skin comes in different colours too. People also move, think, feel and act in different ways, but we all share the same fantastic creation called the human body. Bodies are made up of many organs like the heart, liver, brain, kidneys, lungs and stomach. Groups of organs are called systems. There are twelve systems in the body. They are: •  The skeletal system •  The muscular system •  The circulatory system •  The respiratory system •  The digestive system •  The immune system •  The excretory system •  The nervous system •  The endocrine system •  The integumentary system •  The reproductive system •  The lymphatic system

Human Body Systems

Each system has their own particular job that they are to do. •  The skeletal system is the framework that supports our body

and helps protect the organs inside. •  The muscular system helps us to move, sit, run and walk. •  The circulatory system is the transport system. It helps move

blood through our bodies. •  The respiratory system helps us breathe and bring oxygen

into our bodies. •  The digestive system changes the food we eat into fuel for

our bodies and gives us energy.

•  The reproductive system enables humans to reproduce and create children who will succeed them when they die.

•  The main job of the lymphatic system is to extract and transport lymph, the fluid between the cells.

Human Body Systems

Each system has their own particular job that they are to do. •  The excretory system helps excrete waste from our bodies.

•  The nervous system allows the parts of our body to communicate with each other. The nervous system has two parts: The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.

•  The endocrine system contain hormones that act like

messengers that control many different things such as our height, when you feel hungry, how you sleep and how you digest food.

•  The immune system fights germs and other invaders that can

make us sick.

•  The integumentary system is the largest of all the systems. It comprises of the hair, skin, nails and sweat and oil glands. It functions as a protective covering with the skin also responsible for regulating body temperature.
