PREFACE
The HSQ-3010 is an Ethernet I/O module that supports the Modbus TCP protocol and delivers various onboard I/Os including analog input, digital input, and digital output. Safety Precautions
Static Electricity
Please follow these simple precautions to protect yourself from harm and the products from damage.
To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from your HSQ-3010 chassis before you work on it. Do not touch any components on the CPU card or other cards while the 3010 is on.
Disconnect power before making any configuration changes. The sudden rush of power as you connect a jumper may damage sensitive electronic components.
Safety Instructions
1. Read these safety instructions carefully.
2. Keep this User Manual for later reference.
3. Disconnect equipment from any AC power source before cleaning. Use a damp cloth. Do not use liquid or spray detergents for cleaning.
4. For plug-in equipment, the power outlet socket must be located near the equipment and must be easily accessible.
5. Keep this equipment away from humidity.
6. Put this equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping it or letting it fall may cause damage.
7. The openings on the enclosure are for air convection. Protect the equipment from overheating. DO NOT COVER THE OPENINGS.
8. Make sure the voltage of the power source is correct before connecting the equipment to the power outlet.
9. Position the power cord so that people cannot step on it. Do not place anything over the power cord.
10. All cautions and warnings on the equipment should be noted.
11. If the equipment is not used for a long time, disconnect it from the power source to avoid damage by transient overvoltage.
12. Never pour any liquid into an opening. This may cause fire or electrical shock.
13. Never open the equipment. For safety reasons, the equipment should be opened only by qualified service personnel.

14. If one of the following situations arises, get the equipment checked by service personnel:
The power cord or plug is damaged.
Liquid has penetrated into the equipment.
The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
The equipment does not work properly or you cannot get it to work according to the User Manual.
The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.
15. DO NOT LEAVE THIS EQUIPMENT IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THE STORAGE TEMPERATURE MAY GO BELOW -20° C (-4° F) OR ABOVE 70° C (158° F). THIS COULD DAMAGE THE EQUIPMENT. THE EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.
16. Ensure the sound pressure level at the operator's position according to IEC 704-1:1982 is no more than 70 dB.

1.2.2 | Indicators
There are system indicators on the front panel of the HSQ-3010 to show the running status:
Power Indicator — Lit when the module power is on.
DO Status Indicators — If the value of the digital output channel is logic high, its relative DO status indicator will be turned on.

Humidity — 5–95% relative humidity (non-condensing)
Operation Temperature — -40–70º C (-40–158º F)
Storage Temperature — -40–70º C (-40–158º F)
FYI: Static electricity will be generated if the relative humidity is below 30%. Therefore, you must take measures against static electricity, such as grounding.

CONFIGURATION TOOL
The Domain Focused Configuration Tool is a powerful utility that can be used to configure the HSQ-3010.
This section describes how to configure the 3010 with the Domain Focused Configuration Tool. It contains headings on:

2.1 | Installation ProcedureInsert the CD into your CD-ROM drive and run the Domain Focused Configuration Tool to start the InstallShield wizard. You will be guided through the installation.
1. Run Domain Focused Configuration Tool Setup.exe and the following screen will appear:

The default installation path is C:\Program Files\Advantech\Advantech Domain Focused Configuraiton Tool Utility. You can click [Browse] to change the installation path.

After you have installed the software, it will appear in the Start menu.

2.2 | Software UsageThe Domain Focused Configuration Tool consists of the following parts:
Standard Toolbar — Menu bar selection
Function List Block — Device and Object tree
Workspace Area — Configure the properties of the HSQ-3010
To start the Domain Focused Configuration Tool, double-click the icon on the desktop or launch it from the Start menu.
2.2.1 | Standard Toolbar
2.2.1.1 | File
To exit the program, click File > Exit.
2.2.1.2 | View
Status Bar — Shows or hides the Status Bar in the program window.
Function List — Shows or hides the function list zone in the program window.
2.2.1.3 | Customize
Advanced — On the HSQ-3010, Advance User and General User are the same.
Language — Sets the display language. Choose between English and Chinese.
Reset All — Restores all the settings to the default.

This displays the software edition.

2.3 | System ConfigurationThis section describes the configuration of the HSQ-3010.
2.3.1 | IP Configuration
Open the Domain Focused Configuration Tool.
The HSQ-3010 is located under the Modbus TCP list. Click Modbus TCP and the host username and IP information will be shown in the right-hand screen.
Click the host OP in the left function list, then the right workspace will show two buttons: [Search] and [Add Device…].

The Domain Focused Configuration Tool provides scan functionality:
Manual Scan — Click [Add Device…] to manually input the IP address of the device to be scanned.
Auto Scan — Click [Search] and the system will automatically scan all online devices.
Use auto scan when starting the device for the first time. When scanning, HSQ-3010 (IP: 10.0.0.1) will appear in the left-hand function list and the right-hand workspace will show the default IP address.

FYI: If the default IP address of the HSQ-3010 is not in the same subnet as the host, you can only modify the device IP. Only when the subnet is the same can you enter the parameter configuration screen.
2.3.1.1 | Changing the Host IP Address
Change the IP address of the host (e.g., from 10.2.2.3 to 10.0.0.10). After resetting the host IP to 10.0.0.10, click Modbus TCP in the left column and return to the screen showing the host username and IP.
Click [Refresh] and the software will adjust the new address of the host to 10.0.0.10.

Perform an auto scan. HSQ-3010 (IP: 10.0.0.1) will display under the host IP in the left-hand function list.
2.3.1.2 | Changing the Module IP Address
Change the IP address of the HSQ-3010 (e.g., from 10.0.0.1 to 10.2.2.1). After scanning, click HSQ-3010 (IP: 10.0.0.1) in the left-hand panel and the device IP information will display in the right-hand panel.
Input the new IP in the IP Address row (e.g., 10.2.2.1) and click [Apply]. You will be prompted to input the password, the initial password is 00000000. Click [OK].

After the IP address has been updated, HSQ-3010 (IP: 10.0.0.1) will appear under the host IP in the left-hand function list.
2.3.2 | Device Management
When the IP addresses of the host and HSQ-3010 are in the same subnet, click HSQ-3010 (IP: 10.x.x.x) and the following screen will appear. The left-hand column shows the AI Group / DI Group /DO Group list. The right-hand workspace is available for configuring relevant system information, password, network connection, and active uploading of: System Information, Password, Network, and Stream.

This tab displays the current firmware version information and description of the module.
If you need to update the firmware, click [Update…].

If you need to change the description of the module, enter the relevant content in the Description field and then click [Apply] to save it.
2.3.2.2 | Password
To protect the device, users need to input the password when entering the I/O channel configuration or changing the device IP.
The password can be reset (the default is 00000000). After setting a new password, click [Apply] to save it. If you need to restore the factory setting, click [Reset Password…].

2.3.2.3 | Network
This displays the device IP address and network connection information.
If you need to change the configuration, input the modifications and then click [Apply] to save them.
2.3.2.4 | Stream
The HSQ-3010 supports active data uploads.
This tab displays the host IP address that receives the data. It supports a maximum of eight hosts receiving data simultaneously. The data upload frequency can be configured.
If you need to monitor the upload state, click [Open Stream Monitor…].

2.4 | Hardware Parameter ConfigurationAfter scanning the HSQ-3010, the I/O list will display in the Function List.
This section provides a detailed introduction on how to configure the HSQ-3010.
2.4.1 | AI Group
The HSQ-3010 has eight analog input channels. Click AI Group to see the input state of every AI channel.

CH — Channel numbers.
RangeCode — Input type of every channel.
Value (hex) — Input value is displayed as real-time data, hex = (float-analymin)/ (analymax-analymin)*65535.
Value (float) — Input value is displayed as float type.
BurnOut — Flag display during the burnout detection.
1 — The input will produce burnout.
0 — Normal input.
HighAlarm — High alarm flag display.
1 — The input value is greater than or equal to the set upper limit (abnormal).
0 — The input value is less than the set upper limit (normal).
LowAlarm — Low alarm flag display.
1 — The input value is less than or equal to the set lower limit (abnormal).
0 — The input value is greater than the set upper limit (normal).
2.4.1.1 | Input Type and Alarm Configuration
The AI Group has eight channels: AI0 through AI7. They all support 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and 0–10 V input. AI4 through AI7 also support the following RTD input signals:
PT100 (385): -50–150º C
PT100 (392): -50–150º C

Additionally, AIs 4-7 can be used as common DIs.
When selecting the input current of one AI channel, you need to configure the 120Ω resistor jumper. After that, you can configure the input type as a current input using the utility. Voltage input and RTD do not need the resistor jumper configuration. To configure the jumper:
1. Remove the top middle cover and then the screws that are accessible through the holes.
2. Remove the top case. The eight groups of jumpers (CN6 – CN13) will be visible on the board.

3. Connect the pins with the clip to close the jumper(s) of the selected channel(s).
You can configure the input types for the channels in two ways using the utility:
1. Configure all the channels in the AI Group.

For example:
Select CH1 and input 0–10 V and click [Apply]. Now CH1 will have an input configuration of 0–10 volts.
If AI0 – AI7 need to be configured as the same type of input, then set all channel columns to 0 and select the input type and click [Apply To All] to quickly configure multiple channels.
Select an input type of 0–20 mA and click [Apply To All]. Now all the channels are set to 0–20 mA.
Clicking [Reset All] sets all AI channels to the factory configurations.
For AI4 – AI7, when selecting RTD input, the system will provide a Temperature Compensation column. You can input the compensation value according to the actual requirements, click [Apply] to save.
When AI4 – AI7 are used as DIs, the input type should be set as RTD.
2. Click one channel in the function list to separately configure it. You can not only configure the input type here, but also complete the alarm configuration:

Click [Apply] to save the configurations.
2.4.1.2 | Frequency Selection
According to the grid frequency, the selections are 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
Click [Apply] to save the configuration.
2.4.1.3 | Calibration
When executing zero calibration or span calibration operations, click [Zero Calibration…] or [Span Calibration…].
You can calibrate according to the instructions of the popup window. Click [Calibrate] when you are satisfied with the configuration.

2.4.2 | DI Group
The HSQ-3010 has eight digital input channels. Click DI Group to see the input state of every DI channel.

RangeCode — Input type of every channel.
Start/Stop — When selecting a frequency of accumulator input, you can start or stop inputting manually.

Value —
When the input type is Normal DI : 1=with input, 0=without input or burnout.
When the input type is Frequency the input signal frequency is displayed.
When the input type is Accumulator the input signal pulses are displayed.
When AI4 – AI7 are used as common dry contact DIs, their input states can be displayed here, corresponding to DI8 – DI11. (Also refer to Appendix A, “I/O Wiring”.)
For example, use AI4 as a DI. Set CH4 of the AI Group as any RTD input type and short AI4 and AGND.
Now check the Value field of DI8 to view the input state of AI4. When AI4+ and AI4- are closed, the DI8 Value field will display 1. When AI4+ and AI4- are open, the DI8 Value field will display 0.
FYI: Value fields for DI8 – DI11 show 1 by default.

Start/Stop — When the output is PWM, double-click to start or stop the output manually.
Value — 1 = high level, 0 = low level. When is is Normal DO, double-click to start or stop the output manually.
